I had a meeting with a vc last year that I sensed didn't like me from 3 sentences in but I was deferring to the person that set up the meeting & kept going with the pitch. Among other things, she said to me that she didn't believe in the shared savings model. Later that day she committed to investing in a shared savings model with a male founder & 1/10th the potential upside.
It would have been really great if she would have cut the meeting short & have been real about why she wasn't feeling it. We are mostly big kids here but there is an unstated power dynamic that if addressed could help all of us grow.
(Side note: turns out 98% of her investments are in male led businesses, so I take responsibility for not having done that diligence on my part as well)
