Disorder in the world is not accidental. It is manufactured—by laws that entrench injustice, institutions that betray their mandate, and individuals who treat the state as a private property.

Anyone who speaks out truth in #Pakistan is arrested or forcibly disappeared. It must stop for the state to progress and the people to live honorably. We stand with @FarhanGMallick and other voices of conscience in the hour of trial.https://t.co/yFxsYbEZmu
We condemn the abduction of @Ahmad_Noorani’s brothers by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan. This egregious act not only represents a gross violation of human rights but also undermines the fundamental principles of justice and rule of law that are essential to a democratic society.
This incident raises serious concerns about the state of civil liberties in Pakistan and highlights the urgent need for accountability and transparency within governmental institutions. The use of state power to intimidate and silence individuals is a dangerous precedent that threatens not only the targeted individuals but also the entire society.
We call on the Pakistani government to take immediate action to ensure the safe return of Ahmad Noorani’s brothers and to cease all forms of harassment and intimidation against journalists, activists, and any individuals exercising their right to free speech. It is essential that those responsible for this abduction are held to account, and that measures are put in place to prevent such violations in the future.
Great initiative @RepJoeWilson. But I expect this legislation to include as well officials including Imran Khan who use religion as a tool of statecraft. The people of Pakistan deserve genuine democracy not replacement of tyranny with theocracy.
Amidst allegations of rigged elections in #Pakistan, one should not forget that the country has authoritarian constitution; it makes free, fair and competitive elections hard to achieve and 5 year tenure unattainable. 1/2
“Any allegations of corruption or fraud must be fully investigated, and those responsible must be held accountable. The United States supports the right of the Pakistani people to a democratically elected government that respects the rule of law and human rights.”

Pakistani authorities must respect the decision of the voters. That is what giving the people the right to elect their own leaders is all about. https://t.co/wGgP1l1gJ6
Very concerned by reports of vote manipulation and interference in Pakistan's election. I agree with the @StateDept that we need a full investigation. The will of the Pakistani people must be respected.
Pakistan’s government seems to be headed for a hung parliament, or complex coalition negotiations, rather than the expected shoo-in of Nawaz Sharif and his party. This does not bode well for a country in a state of economic crisis https://t.co/PEnqVwksec 👇
People of Pakistan reserve every right to challenge the unjust and draconian bill passed by the indirectly elected Senate. This bill goes against the spirit of democracy which is transparency and accountability. 1/n
In addition to the bill to amend the Pakistan Army Act, 1952, the Senate on Thursday passed two other bills, for amending the Cantonment Act, 1924 and the Defence Housing Authority Islamabad Act, 2013.
Shortly after they were passed, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani staged a walkout over the haste in passing the bills, terming them “blind legislation”.

The international community should take note that Pakistan’s Constitution 1973 was adopted by an unelected leader who lost elections to Sheikh Mujib. The current legislation is being passed by Parliament whose credentials are questionable. 5/n
