@FiredUpCoug Well C-3PO interprets for R2D2 in English. So if someone doesn’t speak droid, the interpreter droid can. It also means the beeps and whistles are an actual language which can be learned. Finally, in Return of the Jedi we see Luke uses on onboard display that translates for R2-D2.
