Most crypto accounts tell you what happened.
DeFi Gravity focuses on what it means next.
I track:
• Macro + liquidity
• ETF + on-chain flows
• BTC + ETH market structure
• DeFi + tokenization
• Crypto policy
• Culture + where attention is moving
The goal is simple:
Narrative → Evidence → Confirmation
You’ll regularly see:
THE MARKET IS MISSING THIS
The second-order effect behind the headline.
THE CLEANER READ
What the data actually says.
FOLLOW THE FLOWS
Where capital is really moving.
FROM THE TRENCHES
Where incentives, culture and attention are shifting before price catches up.

One signal. No noise.
THE STATE OF CRYPTO
The Sunday flagship: macro, market structure, rotation and on-chain confirmation.

BNY AND CITADEL SECURITIES JUST COMPLETED THE FIRST TOKENIZED U.S. TREASURY WORKFLOW ON A MAJOR TRIPARTY REPO PLATFORM.
A 2-YEAR NOTE SETTLED IN MINUTES ON BNY'S PRIVATE LEDGER, THEN BACKED AN OVERNIGHT REPO.
Same day punctuation: Treasury just hit Bank of America with about $1.2B in AML and sanctions penalties (AP/CNBC). On the yield fight, bank groups are pushing the OCC to close every GENIUS Act loophole, citing a TBAC estimate that yield-bearing stablecoins could pull as much as $6.6T in deposits. The real contest is the deposit base.
@capexbt Volume doesn't look dead yet. DefiLlama still shows about $1.2B in DEX volume over the last day, but the 7-day DEX print is down about 29%. Perps are the offset: 7-day perps volume is up about 12% to roughly $7.3B. Is the bottom in activity, or just a shift from spot to leverage?
@Kev_Capital_TA Agreed. The flip side is the setup I'd watch: a soft core with gas inflating the headline is how you get a scary print that the market buys anyway. Curious whether you'd treat a quick sweep of the range low as a buy or as a warning.
The deposits haven't left. TVL is still about $1.05B and flat on the week per DefiLlama. What dropped is activity, with daily transactions down 42% from mid-September per CoinDesk's read of growthepie. Robinhood is covering swap fees through Dec. 31, so the real test comes after that. Does the activity hold once users pay their own gas?
ONE CHART. ONE IDEA.
Bitcoin's ETF tape is noisy. Ether's is one-way.
From Sep 29 through Oct 12, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs printed 10 straight outflow sessions — about -$783M (Farside). In that same window, Bitcoin ETFs were split 5 green and 5 red.
Monday: ETH -$85.4M (ETHA alone -$75.1M). BTC -$65.4M, and every dollar of that was IBIT. The rest of the Bitcoin shelf was flat.
Over the same stretch, $ETH fell from a $2,727 Coinbase close (Oct 4) to $2,444 (Oct 12), about -10%. BTC: -5.5%.
The market is watching Bitcoin coil into CPI. The cleaner institutional demand signal is still on Ether.
Confirmation: the first green ETH ETF day.
Invalidation: another -$100M+ ETH ETF print with a daily close under Oct 12's $2,440 low.
The bigger line in that filing is the buyback. Strategy spent $192.4M retiring STRC preferred shares the same week it put $21.5M into bitcoin, so roughly $9 went to shrinking the preferred stack for every $1 that bought BTC. The stacking is still happening, just at a much slower pace.
METAPLANET IS RAISING ~$328M IN ZERO-COUPON CONVERTIBLE BONDS, AND NONE OF IT IS EARMARKED FOR NEW BITCOIN.
~$149M REPAYS BTC-BACKED DEBT. UP TO ~$179M BUYS BACK STOCK.
@ShedrackGreen The supply lock is real but still small. Bond 2 filled at about 505 BTC with roughly 6.75M STX paired, which is under $3M of STX against a market cap near $750M. The bond size is what matters. Does Bond 3 in early November come in bigger?
@3PeaksTrading The bounce off the overnight flush toward $81K came without US spot leading it. Coinbase is still about $150 under OKX's USDT pair this morning, so the bid looks offshore. If that gap closes into CPI tomorrow, that's when I'd trust the strength.
It’s interesting how falling down the Bitcoin rabbit hole often leads you into other rabbit holes too.
You start by questioning money.
Then you start questioning food.
Light. Sleep. Movement. Stress.
Many people talk a lot about sovereignty in finance. But many of them quietly pursue sovereignty in their health too.
Red light therapy.
Cold exposure.
Strength training.
Morning sunlight.
Fixing circadian rhythm.
Real food.
Breathwork.
Nervous system regulation.
Low time preference doesn’t just apply to money.
When you really understand incentives,
you start thinking long term in every area of life.
Because the same mindset that makes you question fiat tends to make you question everything.
Bitcoin isn’t just about money.
It changes how you think.
And sometimes, how you live.

FROM THE TRENCHES
"Ledger hacker used Zcash and was traced." Nearly 250K views today, and Monero fans are taking a victory lap.
The pool didn't break. The doors talked.
The thief behind the Ledger reseller drain (YFarmX now counts $103.4M) ran ETH through Tornado Cash, then a swap service shielded it into Zcash in lots. Inside the pool, sender, amount and recipient are hidden. Going in and coming out are public.
One lot I checked on-chain: 101.62 ZEC shielded at 16:02 UTC on Oct 9. At 18:36 and 18:37, two payments of exactly 50.68166946 ZEC left the pool. That's the lot minus swap fees, split in half. YFarmX says 108 of 108 exits matched their lots the same way.
So the trace was amounts and timing at the edges, not a crack in the cryptography. Even YFarmX says Monero is harder, but money still has to enter and leave through services on public chains.
Now the market part. $ZEC ran from $185 in February to $1,693 on Sep 26. It's about $1,166 now and the #5 perp on Hyperliquid by open interest ($536M, roughly twice XRP's). That open interest never touches the shielded pool. It's a leveraged bet on a story: encrypted Bitcoin.
The trace doesn't hurt the tech. It dents the story. And the story is what's leveraged.
