🚨 BREAKING: Health minister Karin Smyth has told the Darlington nurses there is no plan for new NHS rules on single-sex spaces, despite the government previously promising action and institutions repeatedly saying they are 'waiting for guidance' following the Supreme Court ruling 18 months ago.

Bethany Hutchison and Annice Grundy met the minister in Leeds following the nurses’ landmark employment tribunal victory.

The nurses warned that, without clear national rules, NHS trusts remain free to impose policies that undermine the privacy, dignity and safety of female staff.

Bethany said: “The government has had long enough. The law is clear. Women should not have to go to court simply to secure a safe place to change.”

The Darlington nurses are calling for urgent, legally compliant NHS guidance protecting single-sex spaces.

SENT HOME - DEAD NEXT DAY

A hospital gave a very sick 25 year old mum the option to go home. She took it. She was dead the next day.

Tanya McCartney lived in Derbyshire and had a baby son called Marcus, aged 11 months.

On 18 May 2023 her GP sent her to A&E at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, run by Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

She had chest pains, a cough, a fever and a racing heart. Staff tested her for suspected chest sepsis. A consultant thought she had an infection, possibly from a throat abscess, and referred her to the ear, nose and throat team.

Nobody admitted her. She was offered a choice between staying and going home with antibiotics. A woman with a fever, a racing heart and a suspected infection is obviously the ideal person to make that call.

She went home. Her family says she called the visit a waste of time. At home she got worse, became confused and struggled to recognise her partner and her son. She stopped breathing on the sofa. Paramedics tried CPR.

Tanya McCartney died on 19 May 2023 from pneumonia, less than 24 hours after leaving hospital.

The trust reviewed its own care and decided that sending her home was appropriate. An inquest in 2023 was closed. Nothing to see here.

Her family kept pushing and hired the law firm Slater and Gordon Lawyers (UK). After a legal fight the trust admitted liability and agreed that discharging her was inappropriate. The inquest reopened in February 2026.

So the same decision was fine, then it was wrong, and the difference was a legal fight.

This week the assistant coroner gave her conclusion. Three hours before discharge, Tanya McCartney's vital signs were significantly outside the normal range.

If she had been admitted that evening and given antibiotics through a drip, she would probably have survived.

Offering her the choice contributed to her death. The trust accepts this.

Kevin Sargen, the trust's medical director, said the trust accepts the findings and has made improvements. The list includes stronger oversight of higher risk patients in A&E, better referral and handover, and a new electronic patient record system. A new computer system. Very reassuring...

Her mum Natasha Johnson said the family lives with the heartbreak every single day. She hopes no other mother has to learn that her child's death was entirely preventable. Marcus is now 4 and asks about his mummy every day.

Tanya McCartney deserved a bed on 18 May 2023. Her family waited more than 3 years for the truth. Read this, share it please.

19-year-old Philippine Le Noir de Carlan, a brilliant student and scout leader, went for a walk in Paris during lunchtime.

In what should have been a safe part of the city, Philippine crossed paths with Taha Oualidat. This 22-year-old Moroccan was already convicted of rape and should have been in prison — but wasn’t.

Oualidat had also received a deportation order but this too wasn’t brought into effect because Morocco refused to accept him back. After Morocco's refusal, a French judge ordered Oualidat's release from the immigration detention centre where he was held.

Two weeks after his release, on September 20th 2024, Oualidat raped and strangled Philippine. The next day, after a big search was launched, Philippine’s family found her partially buried body in a park.

For Philippine and for thousands of other victims, we demand remigration for the hostile invaders and prison for @EmmanuelMacron and his open-border-cronies.

🚨 CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE STEPHEN PADDOCK, 59 - MARKET RASEN, LINCS

More than 3,500 child abuse images ✅

Distributed images to others ✅

Previous offending ✅

Breached restrictions ✅

Received suspended sentence ✅

Stephen Paddock, 59, was found with more than 3,000 child sexual abuse images and videos — including Category A material involving children as young as four.

He was already a convicted sex offender and was subject to an indefinite order restricting his internet use.

Police found 1,072 Category A images and 485 Category A videos, alongside hundreds more Category B and C files.

He had also been distributing material online and breached his court order.

Yet at Norwich Crown Court, Paddock was given a THREE-YEAR prison sentence — suspended for three years.
He must complete just 15 rehabilitation days.

Norfolk Police said there is “nothing victimless” about possessing or sharing this material because every image represents a real child who has been abused and exploited.
