Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?
For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir, which according to the UN, amounts to torture and which is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health.
He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.
The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.
He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.
Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.
Yet those orders are being defied.
This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.
He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.
His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls.
I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father.
@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court; restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.
Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government to please now do the right thing.
Today, I had the honour of speaking to the 47 countries that comprise the @UN#HumanRightsCouncil urging the immediate release of my father @imrankhanpti and all #Pakistan’s #politicalprisoners. Along with this, I want to be very clear. Like my father, I fully support maintaining GSP+ as the people of #Pakistan should never be punished for the actions of its leaders. But the Pakistani regime must also fully comply with the 27 treaties it committed to follow to obtain this benefit, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Convention Against Torture. @UN@ptiofficial #HumanRights #ImranKhanUnlawfullyDetained
Long before tensions escalated, Imran Khan warned of the human and economic cost of war. He consistently advocated dialogue over destruction and diplomacy over bloodshed, emphasizing that conflict is easy to start, impossible to control, and paid for by ordinary people.
Today, a leader who cautioned against chaos remains imprisoned, not for violence or corruption, but for his independent stance. History often questions such voices later, but the record of what he said remains clear.
Truth does not fade with confinement.

Statement by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Shahadat of Supreme Leader Imam Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf expresses its profound sorrow and unequivocal condemnation of the assassination of Imam Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
This assassination undermines international law, destabilises the region, and pushes the world further toward chaos and conflict.
We extend our deepest condolences to the people of Iran during this time of grief and uncertainty. The loss of the Supreme Leader of the Iranian people is a moment of profound mourning for Iran and the brotherly people of Pakistan.
PTI urges the United States and Israel to immediately cease any further illegal aggression or escalatory actions.
With civilians gathered in large numbers on roads and in public spaces during this mourning period, the risk of civilian casualties is significantly heightened.
Even in the most difficult and barbaric of times, the sanctity of civilian life must be respected, and restraint must prevail over retaliation.
At the same time, we call upon Iran to exercise responsibility and caution. Reports indicating that drones have struck civilian residences and public places in neighbouring Arab states are deeply concerning. The protection of innocent lives must remain paramount, and any actions that endanger non-combatants must cease immediately. We call upon all states to desist from providing any form of support for the aggression launched by Israel and the US against Iran.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf reiterates its principled stance in favor of international law, sovereignty, restraint, and the protection of civilian life. The path forward must be guided by diplomacy, accountability, and an urgent commitment to de-escalation.

🚨 MEDICAL ALERT: Imran Khan’s health is in critical condition at Adiala Jail. Only 15% vision remaining in his right eye. 2+ years of solitary confinement, denied personal physicians, zero dental care, repeated food poisoning. This is systematic neglect.

⚡️ NEW: Epstein Received Sensitive Military Intelligence Amid Gates Foundation Polio Campaign in Pakistan
Justice Department emails show that Epstein helped the Gates Foundation gain access to the Taliban—and received confidential reports and intelligence on Pakistani military operations.
Story by @Worqas and @MazMHussain
https://t.co/OmNdioAfj2
The sudden appearance and rapid deterioration of Imran Khan's eye condition is caused by severe neglect over two years of solitary confinement.
Authorities continue to block access to his personal physicians and family. No dental treatment has been made available despite repeated requests. Independent and transparent medical care continues to be denied for a serious eye condition that could potentially lead to loss of vision.
#LetKhanMeetHisPersonalDoctors
Imran Khan has always placed state responsibility above personal or party interests. In these sensitive circumstances, with the region engulfed in escalating conflict, his position has remained clear, balanced, and grounded in the national interest. He has consistently prioritised diplomatic engagement and conveyed an unequivocal message: Pakistan is ready to play its role for peace, but it cannot become part of another war.
Today, Pakistan needs that same foresight, courage, and balanced judgment. The world expects a responsible, peace-loving Pakistan, and Pakistan needs leadership that carries the trust of its people. Imran Khan must be released immediately, because only a leader with a public mandate can make the right and courageous decisions in difficult times. That is the national interest, and that is the need of the hour.

Concerns from Imran Khan's longtime personal physicians, Dr. Aasim Yusuf and Dr. Faisal Sultan (Shaukat Khanum Hospitals):
In addition to urgent retina specialist care for his central retinal vein occlusion and severe vision loss, Imran Khan needs a full multidisciplinary evaluation of his underlying conditions at a tertiary hospital like Shifa International Islamabad. (February 15, 2026)
