[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

@JamesKhoroshin @MagicalTux @KeystoneCN That's why you have not only to think on tamperproof but also on counterfeit and authenticity attestation mechanisms available to end users to verify it's no fake or not tampered with.

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

Please, if you are going to google for major ATM-related heists, go to the best storyteller, Krebs' Fun with Shimmers posts https://t.co/VdUSnXuOTM in which he explains with enough details how modern attacks work and who are vulnerable to.

In those examples you linked to, threat actors got CHD which does not include any private key or sensitive authentication data (SAD) from inside the EMV chip, leaving them with the PAN, some extra-data from the CHD and a video recording of the poor victim typing the PIN on the EPP. That allows you to clone partially the card into a magnetic strip-based clone that modern banks won't even accept at any POS or ATM.

It's not a matter of working alone or together rather than cheap or careless vendors versus mature or serious vendors with better situational awareness of what they are doing.

@SaldiviaBN @naroh @XMihura @MAECgob @EspZurich @esc_espana @BrandSpain @_rtvemarcae @diplomaticosADE @AMDERedes @EmbEspSuiza @janoremesal Los Celo-Foliers funcionariales son patrimonio nacional.

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

No need to probe.

Any payment Secure Card Reader (SCR) device or Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP) mounted on an ATM or on a Point of Sale must be certified on all PCI DSS standards that apply to them, including PCI PTS POI, which states all tamperproof requirements and are by far tighter than what Ledger decided to implement or not.

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

@Thunder_x01 @Ledger Until the one you buy from oficial chanels comes with a hardware implant equipped with global WWAN connectivity captures every recovery password the wallet displays because the manufacturer was cheap on tamperproof.

@Casconnn @kikollan Justo.

@frogsterrr @msaraivaf @0xJohannes_ @Ledger Ah, visionaries... they might be anticipating new EU regulations regarding mandatory easy service acces in consumer electronics.

Or whatever their lawyers instructed them to say to limit liability.

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

@PaloYPaloGolf @IvanPerezF_ Curioso... ¿Qué hacía la aplicación? ¿Interna o publicada?

[TheEfrit @TheEfrit]

@PaloYPaloGolf @IvanPerezF_ ¿Tarjetas? ¿En una BBDD? ¿De qué tipo? ¿de crédito?
