“What radicalized you?”
I was a senior in high school, worked at an HEB near a hotel where families that were displaced here were staying, sometimes 6-8 family members to one room. People who had received TANF often came shopping late, and once a woman told me it was because people would sneer at her and her sister’s basket not realizing they were shopping for 14 people altogether, and most of it had to be processed bc they were in standard rooms (small fridge and a microwave only), but she was grateful to God not be in the astrodome anymore and that all her family made it out before the levees broke.
Four months later, the Epstein Files still have vanished from the conversation, as if one of the biggest scandals in American and Israeli politics never happened.
Patrick Clancy’s mother didn’t attend his wedding to the new woman he married just a few months after his kids were murdered. Because she knows what he is. :)
Today, we remember Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
On Aug. 26, 2015, Alison and Adam were killed while doing the work they loved. Eleven years later, their lives, their work and the impact they made continue to be remembered. ❤️
Dolly was openly pro-LGBTQ+, pro-Black Lives Matter, pro-women’s rights, pro-literacy, pro-science and proudly Christian while remaining firmly rooted in country music and although several tried, no one could ever intimidate her into backing down or being silent. 1 of 1.
You sided with the Trump administration’s scare tactics over DEI, lost a loyal Black customer base as well as Black voices that were formerly in the room. That’s HOW it happened and why we will continue to boycott you until you put some REAL CHANGE in motion.
Self-defense is a racial privilege reserved when nonmelanated people kill Black people. It is denied to Black people when defending themselves against white aggressors.
George Zimmerman followed and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and was acquitted after asserting self-defense. Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people and wounded another and was acquitted after a jury accepted his self-defense claim. Chikei Rick Chow chased 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton more than 100 yards and shot him in the back after falsely suspecting him of stealing; his defense argued he was protecting his son, and a jury found him not guilty of murder.
Zimmerman, Rittenhouse, and Chow had the complexion for the protection. Karmelo Anthony had the pigmentation for the condemnation.
Even after Anthony’s defense team put previously suppressed evidence before the court about Metcalf’s behavioral history, including racist graffiti, bullying, aggression, and other disciplinary problems stemming from anti-Black racism, the judge still denied him a new trial.
Don’t tell me race has nothing to do with how “self-defense” is heard, believed, accepted, and protected in America.
When Zimmerman claimed it, he walked. When Rittenhouse claimed it, he walked. When Chow claimed it, he walked. When a young Black man claimed it against a white aggressor with a well documented history of anti-Black, racist, violence, he got 35 years.
This is not equal justice. This is not blind justice. This is racism in Amerikkka.
NEWS: Sean Grayson, the former Illinois sheriff’s deputy convicted of murdering Sonya Massey, has died at 32.
Grayson’s attorney confirmed his death Sunday. He had been battling Stage 4 colon cancer while serving a 20 year prison sentence for Massey’s 2024 killing.
His request for medical release was denied last month despite his advanced cancer diagnosis.
