In the @UKHouseofLords today I held a debate on the impact of artificial intelligence on human relationships and society.
AI will shape many aspects of our lives in the years ahead. It brings significant opportunities, but also raises important questions about connection, dignity, truth and what it means to be human.
Today I laid a wreath to commemorate the nearly 4,500 people who have lost their lives since @UNPeacekeeping began almost 80 years ago.
And I was humbled to posthumously bestow the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal to 68 peacekeepers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
They represent the best of humanity – people prepared to risk everything to keep others safe.
Amid shrinking development financing & growing global pressures, the @UN has helped strengthen food security, expand access to electricity & extend essential health services for millions of people.
We need to strengthen a multilateralism that delivers results people can see & feel.

It is indeed necessary to step up pressure on Russia so that this war is not dragged out or expanded. Last night, the Russians carried out a deliberate strike on our southern region – Odesa region, which borders Romania. This was yet another cynical attack on civilian infrastructure in our cities and in our waters, targeting civilian container ships.
One of the drones – essentially a “shahed” equivalent – also struck an ordinary residential building in Romania. We wish those injured a speedy recovery. We are ready to support Romania in whatever way is necessary under these circumstances. We count on the European Union’s new sanctions measures against Russia to be truly strong and to make Russia feel that its strikes mean significant losses for Russia itself. That would be fair. Thank you to everyone helping protect life!
Russian drones have crossed into Romania multiple times since the war in Ukraine began, but Friday marked a dangerous first: civilians were injured after a drone struck a residential building in Galați. The incident raises fresh concerns about the conflict spilling into NATO .
A Russian drone struck an apartment block in Galați, Romania, causing a fire and injuring two people. The incident near the Ukraine border was condemned by NATO and EU allies, while Ukraine said it proves Russia remains a threat to Europe. #Romania#NATO
Russia’s war in Ukraine has directly injured civilians inside a NATO member state. A Russian drone reportedly struck an apartment building in Romania’s port city of Galați, wounding two people—the first ncident of a Russian drone causing casualties in a major NATO urban area.
Russian drones have crashed near Romania’s border since 2023, but Friday marked a dangerous escalation. A drone struck a residential building in Galați, injuring civilians and becoming the first known Russian drone attack to cause casualties in a major NATO urban area.

During my meeting with the President of Lithuania, @GitanasNauseda, we focused primarily on our defense cooperation and agreed to work together within the Drone Deal format: our countries now have such bilateral agreement. The agreement is intended to strengthen both our countries in defense, and importantly, it is built on the principle of reciprocity – we support our partners who provide real and tangible support for our defense.
A Ukrainian military expert team will work in Lithuania to develop the necessary security capabilities, first and foremost to counter modern threats and strengthen the security of our countries and the entire region. The challenges we face are shared, and we must overcome them together.
We value Lithuania’s principled support and its readiness to strengthen defense and make it truly capable of responding to any Russian attacks. I am also grateful to Gitanas Nausėda for his clear position on our European integration – all six negotiation clusters for Ukraine should be opened.
Thank you for your support! We must do everything possible to ensure that Europe has enough of its own air defense systems of all types, including ballistic missile defense. Thank you, Emmanuel, for helping already to find the necessary means of protection and for the fact that we are all working together toward ballistic missile defense capabilities.
Right now, many may think that in modern warfare the main thing is simply to have the tools – interceptors, different types of drones, electronic warfare systems. But the reality of modern war is that military technology changes very quickly.
It is not enough just to have the tools – you also need real experience using them and the same speed of adaptation as the threat itself. Right now, only Ukraine has this experience, only our soldiers do. And that is why it is important not to waste time or money, but to build joint agreements and joint results.
This should also be reflected in the SAFE program, which gives Europe the opportunity to rearm now and adapt our European defense production to modern challenges.
“Together” is the key word for Europe so that everyone is protected.

Last night, Russia launched one of its longest and most relentless drone attacks against Ukraine.
Another night of death and destruction.
And the indiscriminate targeting of civilians.
While Russia openly mocks diplomatic efforts, we continue to strengthen Ukraine.
We are finalising a €6 billion drone support package.
And we keep the pressure on Russia’s war economy with ever tougher sanctions.

I thank Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon not only for meeting #Spain’s legal duty under international law, but also for exercising his moral duty to show solidarity with, and compassion and kindness for, the passengers on MV Hondius cruise ship.
Our work is not over. @WHO will continue to work closely with experts in all affected countries. Our strongest immunity is solidarity.
