Pleased to see these on my midday run from up on to The Helm above Oxenholme Station.
Zigzag clover (Trifolium medium), many Harebells in flower, 2 Achillea species (Sneezewort & Yarrow) ...
Timed my arrival at the trig point on the Helm very well! No problem - they cleared the ridge with feet to spare ๐ค๐ฌ Don't know if you can hear the passengers calling out their cheery hello's?
Castlesteads Hillfort, on the summit of The Helm, overlooking the country south of Oxenholme and Kendal, #Westmorland. It's an unheralded site, seemingly far from the nearby #LakeDistrict crowds. #HillfortsWednesday
Do you walk on The Helm (in Oxenholme) regularly?
Weโre asking for volunteers to check the animals are where they should be & let us know if there are any issues with the walls. Help us keep this area safe for everyone to use, if you'd like to help, pls email [email protected].
The Helm Gets a Helping Hand: On Wednesday we were joined by 9 volunteers on the Helm near Kendal. We had a range of tasks to complete and this saw volunteers cover pretty much the whole of the 32ha site! https://t.co/iLmtlyajRX
Started this painting of #TheHelm over a year ago, I just couldn't get it right so I ignored it. I finally finished it today ๐ฅณ The Helm was my daily walk when I lived in #Kendal - I loved it. A small hill but amazing views in all directions. 'Walking on The Helm' 10x8" #Cumbria
This is our local, tiny and ephemeral Iron Age #Hillfort of Castlesteads on 'The Helm', Oxenholme, #Kendal here in #Cumbria.
The ramparts on the steeper sides have eroded away. Away in the distance is Watercrook #Roman fort in the bend of the R. Kent.
