America thrived when we controlled our borders.
From 1925 to 1965, after the Immigration Act of 1924 sharply restricted immigration, the United States became the undisputed technological and economic superpower of the world.

During this period legal immigration was extremely limited.

How the system worked:

Quotas were based on 2% of each nationality’s population in the U.S. as of the 1890 census (later adjusted).
This heavily favored immigrants from Northern and Western Europe (Britain, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia).
Most other countries were severely restricted.

Examples of “gated” countries:

Italy: Dropped from ~42,000 per year (pre-1924) to just 5,802.
Poland: Dropped to 6,524.
Russia / Soviet Union: Dropped to 2,784.
Greece: Limited to roughly 100–300 per year.
India: Capped at roughly 100 per year, and they were specific groups- almost exclusively Punjabi Sikhs.
Most of Asia: Almost completely banned (Asiatic Barred Zone). Japan, China, Korea, and others were effectively shut out.
Eastern and Southern Europe overall: Saw massive reductions (often 80-90% cuts).

Visas were mostly reserved for people of extraordinary ability, such as the German rocket scientists brought in through Operation Paperclip after World War II. These were proven high-value assets who helped advance American capabilities, not volume replacement labor.

No body shops, no random lottery, and no our politicians weren't monetizing the system through lobbies like they do now.

American fields were picked by Americans. Factories were staffed by Americans. Engineering innovation was almost exclusively owned by the USA. We led the world in patents, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing, and infrastructure. Very little IP was stolen because we did not hand over our technology or our best jobs to foreign labor pipelines.

The results were extraordinary. Buying power soared. A single breadwinner could support a family. Home ownership rates exploded from around 44 percent in 1940 to over 61 percent by 1960. Crime stayed low. Our economy and defense became unmatched. American colleges and universities became the best in the world, training generations of homegrown engineers and scientists who powered the postwar boom. Many say we are still coasting on this period and its all been downhill since.

This was carefully designed- It was policy. By limiting low-skilled and chain migration while selectively bringing in exceptional talent, America focused on building domestic competence and rewarding its own workers.

We became a first-world power with no serious rivals because we put American labor and American innovation first.

Here’s where I got radicalized on immigration:

So we’re living in the camper, I’m doing anything I can to pay off the failed business’s debt. I’m running the shrink wrap business but it’s very seasonal (fall mostly)

Until I get a call from a major electrical transformer company about an hour away, they want us to wrap transformers for shipment. If we perform well, it’s essentially a permanent contract. Very lucrative.

For a month we go down there. At the same time there is another crew competing against us for the contract.

100% honest, 75% of the laborers in the factory are non-english speaking, mostly hispanics. Most if not all low and middle management I encountered were the same.

After a few weeks, I was told by the shipping floor manager, our work was BETTER, we were CHEAPER, and we were always ON TIME. The crew we were competing against were hispanics, and according to the few white workers kept f-ing up one way or another.

I’m told the job is ours, submit the final proposal and it’ll be approved.

weeks, no response. I send emails following up.

“We’re giving the contract to the other crew”.

What? You guys said we were better in every way?

I lowered my bid by 25%, still no.

Now I can’t say anything for certain, but until someone can give me another explanation, me and my partner were discriminated against for being white.
