BREAKING: Yemen's Houthis officially announce a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, banning all Saudi maritime traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia exports 4.5 million barrels of crude oil per day through the Bab el-Mandeb. Combined with Iran's full Hormuz sovereign control, Saudi can neither export through Hormuz, nor through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, effectively cutting off all Saudi oil exports as every tanker leaving Saudi ports becomes a target.

A senior Houthi official says it is "unacceptable" for Saudi Arabia to continue exporting oil through the Red Sea while Yemen remains under blockade.

I will write about this more in a dedicated essay, but I have to say it on the day his funeral procession begins: Ali Khamenei changed and shaped history like a very small number of individuals ever did.

He will remain the biggest and most consequential spiritual and political leader many generations have witnessed. He was a great, great, great man; a brave, brilliant giant and a trailblazer of historic importance. There is no end to the lessons humanity can and should learn from him.

Personally, I will always look up to him with great admiration. He was one of a kind. May his memory light the way for everyone who steadfastly stand and fight for good
