Indigenous Peoples Day is today and it’s important to remember Native Americans are not merely historical people. We are still here and the oldest injustice in US history—the dispossession of land from hundreds of Indigenous nations mainly by fraudulent treaties—is still ongoing!
@KrissKimberlyM Oh I agree, I’m just more of the standpoint that some zoos are detrimental to conservation. But I agree with you 100% on that as it’s annoying seeing how many people have zero awareness not to enter a apex predators enclosure that even staff take protocols for their safety
@KrissKimberlyM Also not trying to be argumentative just educating people on a subject they may not know very well as a Wildlife conservationist student in my Bachelors program for that ☺️
Tries to explain how Wildlife Conservation works & how Yorkshire Wildlife Park is part of wildlife conservation programs > blocks me after showing they’re racist
Can’t make this up, the jokes write themselves 😭
@Tinibob20@responsiblparty releasing animals and hoping they survive most likely animals that never lived in the wild in the first place. There’s more to conservation then capture and release, it’s about preserving and protecting what remains and the funding helps goes towards that.
@responsiblparty The Tiger is in a wildlife park for conservation efforts. From looking at its enclosure and reviews of the place it’s a legit place for conservation efforts for endangered animals which is a critical part to preserving species that are struggling in the wild from various reasons.
@Tinibob20@responsiblparty Oh to be so dense and not understanding that it isn’t tbat simple as “release” animals into the wild. The two tigers are part of a breeding program to help preserve and have genetic diversity in Amur Tiger Populations and keeping the species from extinction. It’s not as simple -
@CertainTeaa a breeding program to help preserve the species from extinction. It’s not for “fun” it’s for necessity that thousands of zoos and sanctuaries are part of the conservation efforts. Now there are some bad places but many well established zoos are part of protecting wildlife. 🖤
@CertainTeaa As much as I agree with this take the tiger isn’t in a enclosure for “fun”, it’s for conservation efforts to preserve and protect the species that us humans have caused the Amur Tiger to have around 500 individuals in the wild. Both Tigers at this wildlife sanctuary are part of -
@TrillaryBlinton + This wildlife park is a conservation zoo that helps fund conservation for animals like the Amur Tiger that’s critically endangered which I can understand why they didn’t just go to kill it because the tiger could be part of the conservation breeding program. 🤷🏽♂️
@TrillaryBlinton act like a tiger and can’t expect a zoo to expect someone to climb a barrier. From what I read the person could’ve been mentally not well and have a learning disability (I can’t fact check because I’ve only heard that from comments) even then if he is where was his care taker?
@dookasaurus@BenGrahamUK I could agree if it’s a zoo that doesn’t directly work with conservation efforts to help preserve endangered wildlife, but from what I’ve looked up Yorkshire Wildlife Park does indeed work with conservation programs for endangered animals which is a good thing.
