🙌 The Arizona Legislature has approved a bipartisan state budget that includes funding for the I-10 Widening Project from Citrus Road to SR 85!
With this funding secured, we can move forward with construction to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance mobility for Buckeye residents and businesses.
From Mayor Eric Orsborn and the city of Buckeye, thank you to everyone who contacted state leaders and advocated for this critical project. Your voices made a difference!
I applaud the bipartisan state budget agreement that was reached. Critically, this budget protects and preserves funding for the I-10 widening project from Citrus Road to SR 85 so we can begin construction.
This is a huge win for Buckeye and the West Valley as we continue working to improve safety, mobility, and economic development along one of Arizona’s most critical transportation corridors.
I want to thank the many residents, businesses and stakeholders who helped advocate for this critical infrastructure project. There are always many competing interests when building a state budget, and we also deeply appreciate the West Valley legislators who fought to keep this project moving forward, particularly @SteveMontenegro, @MichaelCarbone, @Livingston4AZ, @realnickkupper and Senator Tim Dunn.
The House and Senate GOP budget proposal protects critical funding to widen I-10 from Citrus Road to SR 85, allowing construction to begin this summer. This is a major investment in safety, mobility, economic development, and the future of the West Valley.
Thank you to @SteveMontenegro, @MichaelCarbone and @VoteWarren for helping ensure this project can move forward. Safety is not a partisan issue, and as negotiations continue with @GovernorHobbs, this funding must remain in the budget.
We are so excited for @Burlington join the Buckeye community, plus they let me drive a bulldozer. Thanks to @AZcommerce & @GPEC for helping bring great companies, like Burlington to the region.
I was proud to submit this op-ed and encourage everyone to get involved in protecting I-10 widening in the West Valley. But the original headline got it wrong, and I need to clarify a few things. The funding threat did not originate with the Legislature. It was @GovernorHobbs FY27 Executive Budget that proposed eliminating this funding and delaying this critical project. To be clear, some of this project’s strongest champions have been @SteveMontenegro, @MichaelCarbone, @Livingston4AZ, @RealNickKupper and Senator Dunn. Blaming legislators who have been fighting for this project is simply not accurate or fair.
I should have also made clear that everyone should also contact the Governor and emphasize that this project is far too important to become a bargaining chip in state budget negotiations.
Public safety is not negotiable. Let’s work together to get this done for Arizona!
Salt cedar is an invasive plant. It poses an extreme fire risk, crowds out native vegetation, consumes significant amounts of water, and limits recreation. Buckeye appreciates the leadership of Senator Tim Dunn, along with @azstateforestry and the LRGC, for leading yesterday’s tour of the Lower Gila River, and all the partners involved in the ongoing effort to reduce the impacts of salt cedar and restore this beautiful natural habitat.

Buckeye and the West Valley are among the fastest-growing areas in Arizona.
That growth means more families, more jobs, and more drivers relying on I-10 every day.
The proposed widening of I-10 from SR 85 to Citrus Road would expand capacity along a critical stretch of highway, helping improve safety and preserve reliable travel for both commuters and freight moving through the region.
Despite these growing transportation needs, Governor Hobbs removed funding for the project in her latest budget proposal.
Arizona House Republicans are continuing to push for this investment to remain a priority for the West Valley. Leaders including Majority Leader @MichaelCarbone, Speaker @SteveMontenegro, and Representatives David Livingston (@Livingston4AZ) @realnickkupper, and @BevPingerelli are working to keep this project moving forward for Arizona drivers and businesses.

The West Valley I-10 widening project is too important to delay. Let’s work together and get it done. The time is now.

⚠️ A lane expansion between SR-85 and Citrus Rd. is already planned and funded but that funding is now at risk in the state budget.
🚨 Contact your state legislators and the Governor's Office and urge them to protect I-10 funding. We've made it easy at https://t.co/QctnzVIgIz

At Day 3 of the Buckeye Air Fair with Mayor Eric Orsborn—over 35,000 people show up every year to watch an incredible show with flying stunts, jumpers, and an array of amazing aircraft.
Lots of food and fun—such a great way to spend the afternoon with your friends and family. Will definitely be coming back next year.
Thank you, Buckeye!
Great visit to DC for the @usmayors winter meeting to learn and advocate for Buckeye and our residents on issues like transportation and water. Thank you to @SenMarkKelly & @SenRubenGallego for taking the time to meet during our visit.
I had the privilege of meeting with @SecDuffy to discuss Buckeye Municipal Airport. We appreciate the Secretary’s time and shared commitment to safe, efficient air travel.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting @NellisAFB with leaders from @LukeAFB and @Fightercountry. The Weapons School at Nellis trains pilots to be tactical experts, and it is the culmination of training that begins for many at Luke AFB.
It was an incredible honor to see America’s finest in action as they train to protect our country.
Thank you to the Fighter Country Foundation, Luke AFB, Nellis AFB, and @AFThunderbirds for the unforgettable opportunity. #SoundofFreedom
Today the @AzCities Executive Committee presented @GovernorHobbs with a Champion Award for her commitment to cities and local control. I also shared how critical transportation investment is to keeping pace with growth. Buckeye is ready to meet regional housing needs, but we need projects like widening I-10 from Citrus to Verrado to move forward. Grateful for the Governor’s partnership as we tackle a challenging budget year.
