After seven years, the Construction Justice Act has passed!
Many New Yorkers who build our city’s skyline can’t afford to live in it. Construction remains one of the deadliest industries, with routine wage theft, and non-union labor that jeopardizes the lives of workers.
JUST IN: Democrats have swept the three supreme court elections in Pennsylvania.
They beat back a concerted GOP effort to erase their majority; instead, they'll keep a 5-2 edge on this very important court.

"We can’t cower in fear and hope Trump’s authoritarian power grab blows over. We have to organize new members, build independent political power in our communities, and educate our fellow workers and our communities about what is at stake." - @Jimmy_iupat https://t.co/iyHWon0fSJ
In addition to paying the workers Alba harmed, the company will implement sweeping reforms to end this abuse.

Exploitation breaks our hearts! 💔 On Valentine’s Day, @local79nyc was outside the Empire State Building to say Shame on Empire State Realty Trust for allowing worker exploitation.

Local 79 and Los Demolicionistas, immigrant demolition workers, are standing together with Borough President @MBPMarkLevine to say #ShameOnRockrose for using low-road Alba Services, a contractor with a history of worker exploitation #LaborersRising
Local leaders joined construction laborers and Laborers’ Local 79 union members at Edgemere Commons earlier today to call on NYC HPD to remove Joy Construction as the project's general contractor.
Last month, a construction worker suffered an injury at the project site.
