Our Intergrated Community Healthcare Project focuses on increasing accessibility uptake and quality of healthcare services for communities in the Maasai Mara.

In the month of July, we held medical camps in 8 different villages in Maasai Mara. Services offered include; basic curative, family planning, deworming, immunization and HIV testing services.

Training includes Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).

The Maa Trust launched the Nkirgir community rainwater harvesting project on Saturday, thanks to our partner @aquanirvana .

The project is set to serve 277 household which is around 2000 people.

This will be the 7th water project after Olkuroto, Olesere, Enooronkon, Oloosokon, Rekero, Aitong and Kipolto.

In addition to the construction of water projects, The Maa Trust places a large emphasis on water, sanitation and hygiene education within communities and schools.

In addition to the right to education, every child has a right to play. To achieve this, our child rights programme organized a fun day at Ilbaan Primary School on the closing day to let the children play, have fun, and just be children.

This demonstration farm will be used for training women and youth how to grow oyster and button mushrooms over the next few months through our livelihood skills training programme.

Our mushroom farm has been rebuilt and is ready for the button mushrooms that will be planted and carefully monitored by our Agribusiness Assistant this week. Mushrooms can be a valuable source of both nutrition and income generation for local entrepreneurs.

For many of the children, this is the first time that they have their own brand new clothes and shoes and as you can see, they are absolutely delighted.

As schools re-open this week, children at Ng'ila Early Childhood Development (ECD) School have something to smile about as they begin the new school term. Thanks to support from @RowanCollective, they have been issued with brand new uniforms.

Thanks to support @GreatPlainsCons, all of the children in the scholarship programme and their mothers have been trained how to set up and grow kale, spinach and herbs at home in a vertical grow bag which will not create human-elephant conflicts.

We aim to interlink our programmes as much as possible. Through Maa Enterprise we have been training women how to set up Elephant Friendly Kitchen Gardens at their homes as a micro-enterprise activity.

Many of the children in our scholarship programme struggle to get sufficient and nutritious food when they are at home in the school holidays and so this week we have brought these programmes together.

Maa Beadwork is the trust’s largest income generating programme, training and engaging 579 women in world class artisanal beadwork production.
