The slow degradation of All-in podcast made me question if we are at all immune to bias. Can we be objectively objective when our interests are on the line. Sacks was appointed by this administration and Elon has been his long term pal. I didn’t expect anything else to be honest. Just made me question our overall objectivity.
I’ve watched the All In Podcast for years, and I still do. But the Trump-Elon blowup was the week something shifted for me.
For years these guys were loud. Opinionated on Elon, opinionated on Trump, never shy about where they stood. Then the two of them go to war in public, the biggest story of the week, and All In goes quiet. No episode. Nothing.
That silence told me more than any episode could have. When a story didn’t touch their interests, they’d swing at anybody. The moment it did, they sat it out and waited for it to blow over.
I get that the relationships are real. Sacks had a role in the administration. There’s money and access in the mix. That’s the whole problem though. The opinions were only ever free when they were cheap. The second an honest take might actually cost them something, the show came down with laryngitis.
So I watch it differently now. Four smart guys managing their interests out loud, and the takes are whatever’s safe to say that week.
@eldivine Completely agree. This was my first in the introduction to him as well and God was I impressed? Since then, he has been doing a hell of a job.
Here is your answer. Gold of late, emerged as more of an anti-USD trade than a safety haven (so-called debasement trade). It became a binary choice for both speculators and investors. What has emerged from this current crisis though is that USD remains the safe haven asset and is literally the only asset class, bar Oil, that is appreciating at the moment. And the debasement trade (under which Gold has appreciated) is unwinding. Full stop.
I’ve got to say: this statement alone already betrays a profound misunderstanding of the industry’s depth. Any seasoned finance professional would simply smirk at this.
I challenge all of you "finance bros" with industry experience to bring your best candidate to debate me on any technical topic in Finance on X here, in fact let's do 2008, I'm working on an EM book based on that. If you are brave enough let's go!
