was THIS close to being done discussing my only pt of this shift at 3 am with my attending, but then a pt’s mom called her back and she has now been on the phone with her for OVER AN HOUR giving her therapy and advice, at 4 AM and I’m just sitting here like pls… 🥺💀😵‍💫

today a nurse asked if I was the resident on a case and I instinctively replied “no I’m just the med student.” she kindly said “well you’re not JUST the med student.” I think she’s right and from now on I’ll be introducing myself as THE med student #totherescue

things I have learned going to work at 5:30 am every day: a lot of people drive with their blinders [accidentally?] on, a lot of people don’t know what 60 mph is, some residents genuinely make the choice whether to sleep or shower and no one’s benefitting from that
