men look at women.
women watch themselves being looked at.
even in solitude, a woman is never alone. there is always a man inside her mind, watching her, measuring her against an image of the woman she has been taught to become.
i love this book so much
one of the most feminist pieces of literature i’ve ever read. it takes Kafka’s bleak view of love and offers a gentler perspective..maybe the tragedy isn’t that unconditional love doesn’t exist, but that women have made love the centre of their existence.
Please, trust me.
I most definitely can be cheerful.
I can be amiable. Agreeable.Affable. And that's only the A's.
Just don't ask me to be nice.
Nice has nothing to do with me.
Does this worry you?
I urge you-don't be afraid.
I'm nothing if not fair...
