It's day 138 of reminding the @CityofEdmonton that it is not an "inconvenience" when disabled residents can't utilize city facilities or participate in taxpayer funded events because of barriers to accessibility. It's a human rights issue. They should know that. But they don't so I'm reminding them every single day until they provide proper inclusivity and ableism training to staff, managers, decision makers and council members.
With proper training, their communications team would know about disability inclusive language. With proper training, City council members could identify barriers to access and might think twice before using tax dollars to fund civic engagement activities that exclude members of a marginalized community. Hopefully training can be arranged before we get to day 100000.
