My husband and I bought our first home for about 95,000 in 1985. I took 5K out of my 401K as a down payment. The interest rate was 12%. After about 6 months I could see 12 houses from my front step, at least 6 were in foreclosure. Tough times.

@RoKhanna you do know that individuals on Medicare pay for Medicare every month. It's not free. And for some reason I have been charged 1 1/2 times what the regular premium is with NO explanation. I pay for it. I'm not on social security yet. Which you pay even from SS checks.
