happy canada day! π canada has some of the most cracked builders and founders. that's why im excited to announce that i will be a venture scout for cohort 3 of @AlthraIncubator working alongside @SanketM321 to accelerate canadian founders with validation by writing $50k cheques, providing mentorship, working space in vancouver, and a trip to sf. deadline to apply is end of july. if you're a fit or know someone who is, send me a dm asap! :)
Hey Seattle! π Come co-work with me!
I'll be visiting next week and I want to meet you. On July 3rd, I'll be hosting a pop up cafe co-working event in Bellevue from 5-7:30pm (pop-in when you're free).
Come enjoy the good company of other builders, ML researchers, folks in tech, and creatives in a casual cafe co-working session. Sip your coffee, enjoy a croissant from the cafe, and chat with other cool people while you work on what you love. Bring your passion projects, your ML research, your crochet, your painting, your startup stuff, your art and just be you.
This will be a space for genuine connections rather than transactional networking. At the end of the co-working sesh, we'll all share what we worked on to the group (<1 minute each person) π

are your ambitions truly yours? or did you borrow them from someone else?
recently, i had a chat with a hedgefund manager about finding his purpose. sebastien is an entrepreneur, a trader, as well as a charity owner in calgary. i highly recommend taking 2 minutes to listen to what he has to say in this clip.
he is such a cool canadian founder and prior to the podcast we had a really fascinating talk about our personal philosophies about ambition.

vancouver has some of the most promising up and coming founders. however, the amount of community events by founders for founders is not at the scale of bigger cities like toronto or sf.
recently, i hosted a happy hour at a cafe in downtown vancouver for women. it was great to see the good vibes and relationships forming. folks were more than happy to do some learning exchange too. i've also been noting down founders i meet who want to collaborate on events. might start making an event series π€ ~
part 1 of learning from cool design engineers
today's cool engineer: @raunofreiberg
his page has these tiny delightful interactions that feel like palate cleansers. little moments that just make everything more enjoyable. for example, pix the agent. designs stay super simple + clean but still feel alive. the hand drawn elements add human soul to the designs.
loving this from his essay:
βmake 90% of the experience familiar, and 10% novel.β
(https://t.co/J8BmlPEeIk). thinking about the familiar stuff feels effortless and those 10% novel bits hit just right without overwhelming you. makes me see how small details can upgrade the whole vibe for onboarding
