I was from western New York (Rochester) so I was lucky to be influenced regionally by some big Canadian and American artists running events, labels, record stores, etc. It’s not my place to tell the story of North American DNB but there is a strong history. the originators of the scene are still around and they built the framework before I started back in the early 2000’s. People throw around the word “Legend” a lot but those are the true legends and the true renegades.. I’ve noticed a lot of people talking about the history of drum n bass lately and it would be great to see some stories about those early days on this side of the pond too! there’s some sick fucking tunes as well of course that sound fresh considering how much time has passed.
But I digress, I have some new music coming out on Friday and thought I’d do a little retrospective on my journey as an artist for those that don’t know.. and those that do might inform some🍻 a lot of this video was pulled off of Mini DV I had stuffed away in my closet what a pain but with it!
independent music is in a war of attrition against pay to play algorithms.we can't let fire emojis be the measure of our worth and absolutely have to build our own communities.join artists discords, mailing lists not just to support independents but to be independent yourself ✊
Some of you have seen this symbol on my Twitter page, and on the Dilla Time website. On the penultimate eve of the release of Dilla Time, it’s time to talk about The Triptych, and what it means…

As a listener, you streaming music does not support an artist. The math is simple. Spotify pays $4000 for 1 Million plays. Even if you play a song 1000 times, $4 is generated. Then split between all songwriters/label/whatever the deal is. Find an actual way to support your faves.
I see lots of threads about success as a dj in edm world. gonna be way different for everyone. Find friends that you can be honest with and can learn from. Help each other. Life doesn’t get any better than that. Winning or losing alone is terrible. Don’t be too hard on yourself
New mix for @papermagazine!
For this mix I focused on playing the weirdest, most fucked-up, alien-sounding bangers possible. It’s all fire (thank @SkinnyMcT for the write-up)
