@ilblackdragon returning as CEO of NEAR Foundation was one of the biggest updates of the last few weeks.

Why does this matter?

Every L1 faces a ticking clock ⏳

The race to attract enough projects, developers, and founders to sustain itself.

The previous leadership at NEAR focused commendably on capital preservation, business development, and establishing decentralized governance.

Yet, this shifted the spotlight away from a crucial element for success: Projects and users!

This shift led to what I call the 'governance flywheel effect,' A focus more on internal mechanics than on user-centric growth.

While decentralized governance is important, achieving a balance is key.

That's the past, let's look to the future.

Illia's vision for @NEARProtocol is clear:

1️⃣ Positioning NEAR as the gateway to the Open Web.

2️⃣ Advancing Chain Abstractions, as seen with recent collaborations like @0xPolygonLabs zkWASM, the data availability layer, account aggregation, and fast finality with @eigencloud.

3️⃣ Developing the Open Web Stack, encompassing:

🟩 Data Layer
🟥 Protocol Layer
🟨 AI Layer

If Illia can execute this refocus, it could kickstart a 'builder-founder-user flywheel,' a shift aimed at igniting NEAR's growth and innovation.
