@maebichka Yes, you can (and should) apply this to what insurance you buy, a big lever is higher deductibles. If you’re insuring your house for just a catastrophe you can’t afford (house burning down), jack the deductible up to $5k or even $25k and you’ll pay far less.
@turing_hamster@maebichka This is not accurate, you’re talking about the combined ratio which includes all of the insurance company’s overhead (ie your salary). Depending on the type of insurance, the amount directly paid to customers was probably in the $.60-.75 range at most.
@Jason@VailResorts I got stuck in the mess over new years last year at Park City where the ski patrol striked and they offered no refunds and terrible communication. They gave me a ~20% discount on pass this year from it, strongly considering never buying again.
@RampCapitalLLC As other have mentioned, tons of great Hamilton options in the 1000-1500 range, get more compliments on it than my other 2 watches that each 10x more expensive
@ElijahSchaffer FL department of insurance is very strong, file a complaint and get an insurance lawyer if needed. There are very strong rules around when and how they have to notify you of non renewal or cancellation and it’s very likely they didn’t follow them here.
@con40g@FrankCalabrese Cubs don’t allow it, actually had to pay to store my kid’s water bottle when she brought it with her to a game, haven’t been back since.
@LinkofSunshine Depending on how you save/invest it could be the difference of retiring 10+yrs earlier though, that’s the true utility if you avoid too much lifestyle creep
@gak_pdx See Musk’s “idiot index” that he does everywhere he goes - which is the ratio of any part cost to its raw material costs. Anything that pops on that index they’ll find another source, try to eliminate/ reduce through reengineering, or try to manufacture in house.
@iwasnevrhere_ Pretty sure vast majority of Israelis would say double or triple these costs is a small price to pay for what they at least perceive they accomplished in 12 days.

Not sure if your one bite style, but my favorite in the city, otherwise
https://t.co/ErTGuPgAgA is best nyc style I don’t think you’ve reviewed
@sweatystartup I actually think the opposite, as AI models start to asymptote in ability and standardize we will develop far more efficient methods of getting the same output, requiring less data center and energy capacity such that current buildout will look like fiber in the ‘00s
@NathanQuinlanGC Whatever the time they told you you needed to be there, set a timer on your phone and just leave regardless of their objections once that time is up, be friendly but insist you fulfilled your commitment and and aren’t interested in purchasing at this time.
@USRoute41@PekalaLaw Because it’s all revenue and cities like Chicago impose tons of painful regulations on security deposits, so you take a reasonable fee up front that averages out your normal damage costs that you might pull from the security deposit.
