If actor Michael Miranda had nailed this Drake & Josh scene during run through, we might never have gotten Jerry Trainor as Crazy Steve—and later, Spencer.
Michael was originally cast as Crazy Steve, but after he ended up being the wrong fit for the role, Jerry stepped in at the 11th hour, and the rest is history.
What still blows my mind is that years later, Michael and Jerry ended up sharing a scene together on Wendell & Vinnie.
I remember seeing this photo for the first time years ago and thinking 'We've never seen the room this way', but never realized it's from the unaired #DrakeAndJosh pilot.

@AgroWasHere Not entirely true: the sunscreen damage happened in Survival of the Hottest (filmed late-season 1). The new design was just a change between pilot and series. In fact, when they re-shot the showcase scenes of the pilot (mid-season 1), they used the original puppet again!
Some rare photos taken on the set of iCarly before cameras even started rolling in January 2007.
This was the original Bottle Bot sculpture created for the show.
Filming on the pilot was literally two days away when it was decided that the entire robot needed to be redesigned.
Do you prefer this version or the green one made of Sprite bottles?
I wonder how many viewers knew when it aired that @ItsJoshPeck had a three second cameo in this episode, wearing the wig & sunglasses. I bet it was zero!
Josh had visited the studio on Halloween (when this was filmed) and had his makeup done by the makeup artist. They put him in the background.
He dressed as Andy Warhol for Halloween 😂
Reddit topics with questions like 'Help me find an episode! When did the iCarly gang go to Japan?' make me sad, because putting that into Google will get you the answer within seconds.
Please learn how to search info online. There's so much to find! :)
Sharing this inspiring post, but I'd like to share my own version as well. We work in different ways, which is probably why we post similar yet different content :)
If you're really interested in something, research! And share your knowledge, because it can be used by others!
I first started posting content about Nickelodeon in 2017, and started working in the film industry in 2021. It really is nothing more than connecting with the right people along the way.
Always focus on your passion & hobbies. Network. Sometimes getting to see cool stuff comes out of it.
In ten years, I’ve reached out to hundreds of actors & crew members from these shows seeing if they’ve had their script or any memories from working on them.
Simply put, follow your passion & some cool relationships come out of it.
I often combine info from multiple sources. On the Drake & Josh production dates page, I added the sources that can still be accessed: https://t.co/e3ssTikbva
Look at how much of this obscure info was already online before I combined it! You just need to know where to look.
@brodie44266@childhoodsource Someone in the industry who regularily shares (obscure) unaired pilots posted it, but took down the original upload pretty soon after discovering how much attention it drew.
A couple little changes, for those curious…and these aren’t all that interesting, but:
-Josh’s Miss Nancy advice column dress was completely different
-The “Why are you dressed like Queen Latifah?!” joke was different
-The fight scene was filmed in the Nick on Sunset parking lot, aka the Asphalt Cafe, instead of at a school
-The actor playing Buck was different
This #iCarly blooper (shown in iBloop) actually makes more sense without the laugh track, because I think the crew member cracking up (hard to hear in the original clip!) is at least part of the reason the actors start laughing.
Here's the clip without the laugh track:
There was a title sequence, yes. It was something that reminded me of The Amanda Show’s title sequence. Really just a short sequence with an existing song over it. No theme song existed yet.
The version I saw was really for the network to see only. Kind of like the Gibby pilot that leaked, there were a couple pop songs playing over transitions, which would’ve been edited out had it aired for the public.
I recently got to watch the full unaired Drake & Josh pilot. Instead of the standard 24 minute episode, this version I saw was more of a 30-32 minute episode.
To be honest, I can’t imagine the show as is today with Stephen Furst instead of Jonathan Goldstein. Something felt really off.
The market where Spencer tries to sell fudge balls in #iCarly - iOwe You was likely named after director David Kendall. However, this is hard to spot: some signs are very small, and the Kendall's Bakery sign is only fully visible for 2 frames (and only in the widescreen version)!
David Kendall passed away recently. He directed episodes of basically every Nickelodeon live-action sitcom in the past 20+ years, and much more. He was also a writer/producer on shows outside of Nick.
