This is insane, but not surprising to me at all.
It’s EXACTLY why we take privacy and security so seriously.
It’s always an afterthought for people until something insane like this happens.
Prayer apps are critical infrastructure for Muslims.
Building and maintaining them at a high level is essential to avoid vulnerabilities like this.
It also puts all the grifters looking to build in the space just for money into perspective.
How many apps, many of which are also vibe-coded, are prioritising security and privacy when building their apps?
How many of them already have a tonne of exploits?
How many of them would sell data for some money?
How many of them would sell their app to a bad actor (knowingly or not) just to make a quick exit?
You cannot cut corners.
We cannot allow Qu’ran and prayer apps to be owned or built by anyone.
If your priority is not building right by the Muslim community first and foremost then stay OUT of this space.
We have to safeguard our technology.
We wanted to do things properly 💪🏼
Here’s kne of our engineers @owaissquadri talking about how we built our Hijri calendar with Ihsan 💙
Alhamdullilah 🤲🏽
99% of Muslim apps leave this point unaddressed.
The Islamic day starts at Maghrib.
We decided to update our Hijri calendar to reflect that.
Whether you're in the app or on the lock screen.
No more confusion about which night in Ramadan it is.
Keep us in your duas.
