@joeybeastmarket did you watch the movie in its entirety and sit with it afterwards? The movie is called One Battle After Another directed by Paul Thomas Anderson if you are interested
Living a life you want to live can feel impossible sometimes, like you have to make concessions.
I think that's a load of crap and you can shape your reality as you desire.
It starts with one simple question: What gives me life?

this fear is so, so, so prevelant. I would call it the path of shoulds, however.
Working a modern coroporate job as you *should*
Neglecting your wants because...well, you should just work a modern job and live a common life, nevermind your wants
friend is afraid of quitting her consulting job, thinking she will get depressed because she'll have nothing to do
our system produces people who have no idea what their true interests are and just follow the Standard Path, substituting their wants with the wants of the path
fear is the mindkiller
corporations, news media, etc will use fear to manipulate you into doing shoulds not wants.
allow it to pass over and through you.
when you turn the inner eye to see its path, only you and your wants will remain
@Clo__S Work. I've realized that higher emotional intelligence and maybe just overall healthiness is choosing how _I_ want to live my life.
I could choose to be a perfectionist at work and continue grinding and sacrificing or...I could do what I actually want to do not what I should do
@sympatheticopp which context is it overrated? I think lots of misunderstandings especially in interpersonal relationships stem from poor communication and/or shame
@profeshkitten ah okay, you mean literally, not psychically.
idk about a literal pill but, you already do people as drugs with their presence. people are psychoactive beings - they can shift your reality, for better or for worse
the upper bound of human experience, true whole connections, requires vulnerability. this is how you can fully "do" someone. you can see them and listen and "do" upon them without any veneer or façade blocking a true connection
@profeshkitten I've been trying to work on this myself, I do not claim to know all on this lol. If you're interested in talking more about this, DMs are open
@profeshkitten To "do" someone in the truest capcity, one must be able to perceive them as they authentically are. For them to see you, you must do the same.
This is the act of courage known as vulnerability- showing yourself to others as you are
Interesting seeing this come up in my feed. I am in the process of conquering what may be a similar anxiety discorder. What keyed me in was a simple framing:
shoulds vs wants
"You should do this!!!"
A sense of obligation forms, maybe out of fear, but also maybe because of...
I intend to continue to re-design my life around doing things I want to do not things that I should do.
Listen carefully for the "shoulds", they are a near-silent incantation.
