☀️ MORNING THERAPY TALK WITH DEB
Today’s reminder:
Not everything requires an immediate reaction.
You can be disappointed and wait before responding.
You can be angry and choose your words carefully.
You can feel hurt without making a permanent decision in a temporary emotional state.
You can receive a message and decide that you need time before answering it.
Emotional regulation isn’t about pretending you don’t have feelings.
It’s learning how to feel the emotion without allowing the emotion to make every decision for you.
Before reacting today, try asking yourself:
“What response will I feel good about when this emotion settles?”
💭 Morning Discussion: Are you usually someone who reacts immediately, shuts down, or needs time to process?

☀️ AFTERNOON RESET
How is your day going so far?
Maybe the morning didn’t go as planned. Maybe your energy is fading. Maybe you’ve been taking care of everything and everyone except yourself.
Before you move into the rest of your day:
🌿 PAUSE. Check in with yourself.
🌿 RELEASE. Let go of what you can’t change about this morning.
🌿 RESET. Decide what deserves your energy next.
A rough morning does not have to become a rough day.
You can reset at any point. 🌱

☀️ MORNING THERAPY TALK WITH DEB
Here’s something to think about this morning:
Are you actually tired, or are you emotionally overloaded?
Sometimes what feels like physical exhaustion is the result of constantly thinking, worrying, explaining, fixing, anticipating, helping, and holding everything together.
Your body may be resting while your mind is still working overtime.
Today, pay attention to what is draining you.
You may not need to work harder.
You may need:
🌿 A boundary
🌿 A break
🌿 A difficult conversation
🌿 Permission to say no
🌿 Time without being needed
🌿 Space to simply be
Morning Discussion: What has been taking up the most emotional space for you lately?

Finish this sentence:
“I knew I was growing when I stopped __________.”
Sometimes we recognize growth not by what we started doing, but by what we finally stopped allowing.

Good morning, and welcome to Therapy Talk with Deb 🌿
This morning, I want us to talk about something simple:
What are you carrying today that you may need to put down?
Sometimes we wake up already thinking about yesterday’s problems, today’s responsibilities, other people’s expectations, unfinished conversations, or things completely outside of our control.
Before you carry all of that into another day, ask yourself:
Does this belong to me?
Can I do anything about it today?
And if I can’t, am I willing to permit myself to set it down for now?
Protecting your peace does not mean ignoring your responsibilities. Sometimes it means learning the difference between what requires your attention and what is simply taking up emotional space.
So this morning’s Therapy Talk question is:
💭 What is one thing you are choosing not to carry with you today?
Drop it in the comments if you feel comfortable sharing.

Good morning 🌿
You don’t have to have everything figured out today.
Take care of what needs your attention.
Give yourself grace for what still needs time.
And remember, growth is still happening, even when you can’t see it yet. 🌱
#HortonHealthHavenCounseling#TherapyTalkWDeb
There is no one “right” timeline for growth. 🌱
Your path can look different. You can change direction. You can begin again. You can still get there.
Keep growing at your own pace. 💚
Before the new week begins, ask yourself:
What do I need this week?
Not what does everyone need FROM me.
Not what am I behind on.
Not what should I have accomplished by now.
What do I need?
Start there. 🌿

1/ Covid and the brain. I am updating my list of papers, which is extensive.
But, in the meantime, here is a talk I gave recently, "What happens to the brain when we are on covid."
