One thing I’m hoping to hear a lot less of this season is the constant rallying cry for supporters to “get behind the team.”
Newcastle supporters don’t need reminding. We know when to back the team. We know when to create an atmosphere. Nobody needs to teach this fanbase how to support its club.
Wor Flags always strike the right tone. The build-up to the Tyne-Wear derby was incredible. The atmosphere was there. The support was there. The players simply didn’t rise to the occasion.
This season, I’d like to see more emphasis placed on the players and management to give supporters something to believe in.
It can’t always be the fans’ job to inspire the team. Sometimes it’s the team’s job to inspire the fans.
@geordiejosh@LewisGrier53844@benianderson874 Come off it Josh. You’re meant to be a ‘Geordie’ and you’ve just spent your time slating everything about Newcastle. Give you head a wobble.
