One could argue the current state of the internet is the single greatest indictment on capitalism today, which is saying something. What should on paper easily be a boundless source of information and creativity is now just a vehicle for profit extraction, spying, ads and slop.
In the Sinosphere, there was never a widespread notion that action films were lesser than contemporary drama. This is a huge difference between Hollywood and East Asian films in general. Look at how Tony Leung took Shang-Chi more seriously than the director.
The most annoying thing about being human right now is knowing we already have the intelligence and resources to end world hunger, fight climate change, and cure cancer, but greed and billionaires keep millions suffering instead. The wasted human potential is heartbreaking.
It gets worse when you find out she said this to arts and humanities graduates who are about to enter the workspace while it's facing higher rates of unemployment due to corporate greed using AI to replace them.

Definitely; the very idea of disliking a filmmaker, rather than someone's films to date, is trouble, because it happens (and not that rarely) that the person's new film is wonderful and even inaugurates a great run of work.
if this is the original uncut version then this is easily one of the most exciting and significant re-releases of the past decade. hopefully people are finally ready for it

Kids are going to schools where no one assigns them books, and where computers come pre-loaded with AI that writes for them. The effects on developing brains will be catastrophic. In ten years we’ll see what a horrendous mistake this was, but by then the damage will be done.
Literally, we’ve spent our whole lives being told our purpose was to feed the economy and make life prosperous for shareholders. In doing so, we’ve given up everything else: art, poetry, cinema, literacy, cultural memory, the natural world. Gone. All of it gone to feed the maw.
There is more than enough food. There is more than enough housing. We could give everyone healthcare and education. But we let the greediest people on earth profit from it instead of providing for the people.
