There is a 24/7 camera that shows the reflecting pool. If someone went into the pool and made a 250 foot gash, it would have been seen.
trump is lying again. Everyone knows it, but the people at @TheJusticeDept are randomly going after people to soothe trump’s fragile ego.
The Reflecting Pool was not vandalized.
It was gross incompetence by the no-bid contractor; a contract awarded by Trump.
There is no conspiracy theory. No vandals.
Just incompetence.
On our dime.
Truth matters.
FACT CHECK: President Trump just claimed that "The United States Park Police have arrested multiple individuals for vandalizing our Nations magnificent Reflecting Poll."
Trump said, "Who would do such a thing? These are very serious crimes having to do with the destruction of National Monuments. Years in jail! Work will begin immediately on its repair."
REALITY: A 67-year old cyclist, former three-time US Olympian David Hearn, was arrested for alleged misdemeanor vandalism. He denies the charges, saying he noticed a detached piece of the pool's liner floating in the water, and reached in and touched it before he was quickly detained. Hearn said, "I didn’t destroy or break or peel anything. By the time I realized what was going on, I was being put in handcuffs."
National Guard members detained Hearn who was charged with misdemeanor vandalism, which can carry a sentence of up to six months imprisonment, not "years in jail" as Trump proclaimed.
No other people have been reportedly arrested for any vandalism related to the reflecting pool. This incident occurred after it was already widely reported that the pool's liner has began to detach and erode following algae remediation attempts which utilized hydrogen peroxide — which is known to strip paint.
Is Trump recklessly trying to change the narrative around the failing liner and algae remediation attempts for his reflecting pool vanity project?
Do you believe 67-year old former 3-time Olympian would attempt to damage the pool's liner?
Why is the National Guard deployed to protect the pool? Is this a good use of taxpayer money, on top of the ballooning costs of repairing the issues with the reflecting pool?
If paint is peeling off a pool, due to shoddy workmanship and improper treatment of the water by park personnel, it is NOT a crime to touch or photograph it. Literally hundreds of journalists have done that. Trump charging random people seems like more lawfare. No way they get convictions. More nonsense so that MAGA can blame someone other than Trump's incompetent no-bid contractors.
The Trump administration just paid Invenergy $765 million to cancel four wind projects. That brings the running total to roughly $2.5 billion in taxpayer money spent to stop energy from being built.
Think about that.
At a time when electricity demand is rising, the Trump administration is spending billions to reduce the amount of power that could reach the grid.
Trump has spent years attacking wind turbines as ugly and inefficient. He is entitled to his opinions about how they look. He is not entitled to make taxpayers finance those opinions.
Seven states have already sued over earlier agreements. Federal courts have repeatedly found legal defects in this administration’s efforts to halt offshore wind development. The administration has cited national security concerns while providing little public evidence to support them, and judges have said they were not convinced.
Strip away the politics and what remains is hard to defend.
Billions in taxpayer money paid to private companies to cancel planned energy projects during a period of rising demand.
Governments usually spend money to build things.
This administration is spending billions to make sure some things never get built.

BREAKING: President Trump said the newly restored Reflecting Pool would last "50 to 100 years" before needing major work.
Less than a week later, the sealant was reportedly peeling, algae turned the water green, and federal crews were called in for emergency cleanup on a project that cost roughly $15 million.
That's an expensive way to end up back where you started.
MELONI: Regarding Ukraine, we took stock with Zelenskyy and reviewed situation on the ground, which is very different from what Russian propaganda is trying to sell.
All G7 members unanimously agreed to continue providing support to Kyiv while maintaining high pressure on Moscow.
The unity and firmness of the West continue to be, in my view, the most effective tools for creating the necessary conditions for real negotiations.
The goal remains to foster direct meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin. However, while Zelenskyy has demonstrated sincere attitude toward resolving the conflict, no serious signal in this direction has come from Moscow.

The Reflecting Pool is a perfect metaphor for the Trump administration:
- Ignore experts and science
- Overspend
- Declare early, historic victory
- "THE LEFT HATE THIS"
- Ends in total failure
- Unfounded conspiracies about sabotage
- MAGA pretends it doesn't actually matter
Q: Are you going to be able to control Israel from attacking Lebanon?
Trump: Yeah. They have a lot of respect for me, and they do as I say
(No one in the world respects Trump)
This is Trump donor and Mar-a-Lago neighbor John Cafaro who got the no-bid contract to install a water purification system for the reflecting pool. He has 2 prior convictions, one for bribing a member of Congress and another for an illegal loan that violated campaign finance laws.
Trump is using YOUR money to build HIS ballroom.
Many Americans can’t even afford the essentials.
He’s still taking $300 million of your hard-earned tax dollars to fund his golden vanity project.
You Literally can’t make this crap up!!
The company who Trump gave the contact to clean the Reflecting Pool to is owned by Trump donor John J. Cafaro, pictured below.
He pleaded guilty in a cases which involved bribery and campaign finance violations.
Trump is as corrupt as shit and is getting worse.
Ukraine has just done something astonishing.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has just launched TrophyLab - essentially making access to all captured Russian weapon technologies free for foreign governments, research institutions and the defence industry.
They will even send physical hardware to allies for examination and to rip it apart to discover Russian military secrets. As well as technical specifications, blueprints and research results.
The website includes listings for armoured vehicles, missiles, aircraft, UAVs, EW assets, UGVs, cruise missiles etc.
Governments usually want to keep this kind of captured tech a secret for its own advantage. Ukraine has decided to make it (relatively, I think) open access for the benefit of the West.
