We spent quite a bit of time digging into the data and modeling this upcoming winter based on analog seasons. What we found is that the expected strength of this impending super El Niño may push the chances of greater-than-normal precipitation farther north into northern Utah. However, it also increases our chances for a warmer-than-normal winter, which means that lower and mid elevations could see a lower proportion of that precip falling as snow. Of course, all ENSO is doing is loading the dice a bit on either side. Anything can still happen, and seasonal outlooks are speculative at best. Still fun to explore possibilities!
