@HimChatt If the music isn't good enough without the libretto, why bother at all, but you can't trust my opinion because I think contemporary "music" which all seems to be sung poetry is rubbish because there's no music behind the words.
Don't hurt people.
Don't take their stuff.
Don't tolerate those who do.
Surveillance is sold as tool for justice, but always surrenders freedom and expands government. These companies and governments must be held liable for the harm they cause.
To make America great again, restore a government small enough to fit within the Constitution.
More freedom.
Less government.
Sound money.
Secure borders.
Strong families.
@big_pedestrian Walking and biking infrastructure to me has always seemed treated like decoration. A city expresses its wealth by outfitting every 10 lane intersection with crosswalks and permission buttons and every road with an exposed bike lane on each side.
Libertarianism is not a victim of its own success. It didn't succeed, or even come close.
Rather, Hayek's "Road to Serfdom" was proven correct:
"the most important change which extensive government control produces is a psychological change, an alteration in the character of the people."
Government spending and regulation grew and grew, and the American people lost their taste for freedom, or even a true understanding of what it means. Now after generations of decadence and failure, $40 trillion in accumulated debt, and persistent inflation, we will see if enough of the American spirit remains to attempt reform.
Searching Flock isn't a "search" subject to 4th Amendment protections.
Searching people's cellphones if they're coming in or out of the country isn't a "search" subject o 4th Amendment protections.
When IS a search a search anymore?
Cops, courts, & immigration authorities keep trying to carve out exceptions to due process requirements, like the Constitution doesn't apply where technology is concerned
The moment you receive a jury summons, you are invited to hold more power than most people realize.
Here are 4 things every juror should know: https://t.co/KeIdn9AbVQ
@nguyenhdi@GoodmanAlanplus and the recognition of how few of them (us) there are provokes an existential terror powerful enough to either a) interact with any human ever or b) suppress the memory of and desire to reflect on this again
@modcultureuk what really gets me is when conductors think their prerogative is to tiktok lecture before every work in the program. Just direct the orchestra and communicate through music: I don't want to be forced to think about the music with your priors, I want to enrich my own muse.
@ObhishekSaha@wtgowers@doomslide there is also a lot of rank pulling having the (intended?) effect of reminding us lesser intelligences our contributions are trivial and/or counterproductive and/or wrong, so stop trying to participate with technological marvel. Only natural wizards are anointed to practice magic
@justinskycak in my experience most textbooks are not worth reading. Find the ones that are and prize them: do every problem, rederive every theorem. Poor exposition can make you more confused. I learned this lesson at a high cost
