Lost in last night’s hysteria: Sixers did really good work after opening up the non-taxpayer’s mid-level exception. It wasn’t going to be easy to find a better pair than Quentin Grimes and Kelly Oubre Jr. with $15 million. I think getting Dean Wade and Anfernee Simons qualifies.
badly needed this shooting. combined with some self creation thats a good thing. hard to get off bench. sixers will have two bucket getters off bench now between simons and philon.
Ladies & gentlemen, your newest Philadelphia 76er Mr. Anfernee Tyrik Simons…
He ranked 6th in the NBA in 3’s made off the bench & will give this team EXACTLY what we need. He picked Philly over Golden State, Miami & Dallas. Unreal.
Welcome to Philly, @AnferneeSimons 🙌🏽
thats better. think you need an upgrade on edwards and bona if you can. a wing defender. though barlow can guard for sure. can they find someone who can really rebound? but pretty solid.
The 76ers potential roster next season:
PG: Tyrese Maxey
SG: VJ Edgecombe
SF: Jaylen Brown
PF: Dean Wade
C: Joel Embiid
Bench:
• Labaron Philon Jr.
• Anfernee Simons
• Justin Edwards
• Dominic Barlow
• Adem Bona
The East’s in trouble next season 😳
Context: According to StatMuse here’s the truth behind the numbers.
In the 2022–23
season they went 11–4 without Brown. BUT the combined winning percentage of those teams were .373.
In the 2023–24 season Boston went 12–0 without Jaylen. BUT the combined winning percentage of those teams was .338.
I can keep going, but the point is that they’re blowing that dog whistle with biased and dishonest analytics.
i think for any detractors of this trade for whatever reason for the sixers…if it doesnt work out the sixers have a 31-32 year old superstar they can trade to rebuild/get a different piece instead of a 37 year old declining player to get off of. jaylen brown will have value
Bob Myers went to the Hamptons and convinced KD to sign with a team he just blew a 3-1 lead against. I wouldn’t put out of question.
LeBron has been linked to Philly before and always makes it a point to speak glowingly of the city.
He also has know Mike Gansey since HS.
SOURCES: The Philadelphia 76ers have reached out and are expressing interest in acquiring LeBron James. The story, is here. Please read - https://t.co/x3dKMkMj3l
I'd like to see way more aggressiveness in turning over some of the bottom of the roster spots now. You just hit the gas, you need to add some playable depth instead of rostering three or four guys who can't play.
Sixers trading with a smart team like the Celtics makes me nervous but I’ve been a huge Jaylen Brown believer. Been the best player (NOT Jayson Tatum) on these really good C’s teams.
One NBA GM to @TheFieldOf68 on the Jaylen Brown trade:
“This was highway robbery. I have no idea what Brad Stevens was thinking. The Celtics will be lucky to get in the play-in next year.”
I’m early here so forgive me, but I think the Sixers just fleeced the shit out of the Celtics which means Jaylen Brown is probably developing CTE and will retire abruptly in 15 months
I just can't make the Celtics return make sense. It's such a lopsided no-brainer of a trade that it almost feels like a trap, or like Jaylen Brown has been spotted shooting jumpers with his left hand
Pick compensation to Boston, from
Philadelphia, sending Paul George to the Celtics and Jaylen Brown to the Sixers, per source:
2028 first-round pick that could convert from a first to a swap that is more favorable to Boston
2031 unprotected PHI first
2028 second round, most fav GSW/OKC/MIL
2030 second, most favorable WAS, POR, PHX.
