@yaacov@nickgiva1 Did you forget what the IPOD did for the company? The irony is that buying AAPL at a 400x PE in 2003 turned out to be one of the greatest investments in market history. The multiple compressed dramatically as earnings exploded, while the stock price kept climbing.
Apple-
All-time absolute high: 479.9x, hit on August 21, 1998 — during the Steve Jobs comeback era when Apple was barely profitable and the stock was running on turnaround hope. Essentially a noise number; earnings were near zero so the ratio was astronomically distorted.
Modern era (post-iPhone) high: 58.6x in the September 2024 quarter, which reflected the stock near all-time highs while earnings growth had plateaued.
10-year TTM high (GuruFocus): 42x, which aligns more with the smoothed trailing 12-month calculation rather than a single quarterly snapshot.
Today at ~37.6x, it's elevated but below the recent peak. The 1998 number is really just a quirk of near-zero earnings — the meaningful ceiling for the modern Apple is that ~58x reading from late 2024.
@typesfaster@edwinapaloo I had season tickets 1990-1997, I can confirm semi final and final tickets are allocated but not paid for obviously and they are more $$.
@Pledditor Based on current estimates, Charles Hoskinson's net worth is estimated to be $1.2 billion as of 2026. However, other sources offer more conservative estimates in the $550 million to $650 million range.
@BlacklionCTA What is DNI at this point who has held the role and how does it fit in? Seems like a three letter useless function for social media saturation. CIA, FBI etc covers alot.
