@TeslaTim2@koalafiedtesla@DJSnM Gay marriage was only just legalized in your lifetime and you think there doesn’t deserve to even be a day to advocate for LGBTQ rights? It sounds like you’re trying to hide a real hatred of people different than you by being civil
Before the near-total eradication of the American Chestnut, some preachers in Appalachia railed against the tree as being uniquely "sinful" because it encouraged sloth; the free & easy abundance of the nuts meant that many chose to stop working for wages during chestnut season.
Members of our staff rescued this peregrine falcon today from a courtyard on the Upper West Side, where he likely collided with a window, suffering a wing fracture.
The break, to the right ulna, was severe enough to puncture the skin. Our vet tech Eugene cleaned the wound and splinted the wing while the bird was under anesthesia, and since surgery may be necessary, we’ll be quickly sending the peregrine to our friends at The Raptor Trust.
Thanks to his ankle bands, we know that this bird is 12 years old! That’s at the high end of the typical lifespan for a peregrine, so Leroy has been around the block a few times and is a fighter.🥷
Once threatened with extinction in the U.S., peregrines have rebounded in NYC and elsewhere thanks largely to environmental protections passed in the 1970s. Among them was the Endangered Species Act, which narrowly escaped being gutted yesterday in Congress. Thank you to everyone who took action to oppose the bill!
Please keep this beautiful survivor in your thoughts.

@svtminsi @sosonosonosono I’ve been on Guanfacine (a non-stimulant they sometimes combine with stuff like Vyvanse) and it’s done wonders for my executive dysfunction
@DHARMAPALAS@giveashitnature These reefs predate our existence as a species. We are using a system that has worked for nature for millions of years.
Even if it didn’t provide us massive benefits (they do!) it would still be an amazing idea to establish more oyster reefs

@DHARMAPALAS@giveashitnature The only downside is that it doesn’t look “clean” like some people desire. Oysters existed in these reef structures before we ate them all, this is just bringing them back slowly.
@Khorgnir@notmyrealhouse Seems like it’s been possible for years without blizzard removing or fixing it, plus I can’t seem to find any info on it being ruled an exploit or even a blue post on it lol
