As a remote-worker, I have lived in Lagos and Abuja and realized how madly expensive these places are compared to the cities in Northern Nigeria.
After living in Jos for 3 years, I became almost 15 times richer, as I'm able to put away a high portion of my income to live a better life (travel the world, buy myself valuable items, etc).
I have enjoyed the following in Jos:
1. Fairly constant power (20 - 24hrs daily).
2. Relatively low cost of rent.
3. Low cost of living (I spend roughly 35k monthly on food and utility bills. This is because I splurge on food and I eat very healthy. Internet 15k, Electricity 5k, yes; 15k is a splurge 😂😂😂)
4. Low cost of public transportation and ease of movement. There's Bolt in Jos, btw so you don't necessarily need a car to move around.
5. Cheap eats/restaurants/bars/clubs.
6. Low cost of labour/repairs.
7. A sane and cold clime - people here are a lot more friendly, chilled, and so is the weather. (It's 16 degrees as I post this.)
8. Low cost of and availability of landed property. Price starts at 3.5M in the very posh parts with high security.
I could go on and on about it, tbh...
I shared a detailed video about my one chance experience years back, and I hope every Lagosian (and Nigerian) would watch and learn from it.

You may not always be this lucky, so it's best to know the signs before it happens to you.
How I escaped this today is quite fascinating
One can never be too careful but sometimes if you’re observant you might see the signs
Went to pick a waybill this evening, on my way coming back I took a wrong bus and this is how it happened, normally I only take bus at the bus stop because for you to load there it means you’re part of the union, this helps reduce the chance of entering one chance.
But this evening I was in a rush , just wanted to get home, I got to the bus stop and the bus loading was empty and that road isn’t really a busy road in the evening so I thought it will take time to load , so I saw a bus turning I just thought to enter since it’s empty but it wasn’t stopping to load
I entered and was alone, somehow I looked back and I saw clothes , toothpaste and brush and other house stuffs in the car, I didn’t think it deep, few minutes later the bus stopped to pick a young girl, the driver didn’t ask her where she was going and when she entered they looked at each other and it felt like they commited with eyes, I became uncomfortable and vigilant, the road was lonely bus there’s a bus stop ahead and I know there’s a cross junction there with no roundabout or flyover so there’s always traffic that became my escape route
But the driver stopped to pick a guy, immediately he entered I felt goosebumps all over me, texted my babe to monitor my location from her ends
When the guy entered , the girl passed something to him but I don’t know what that was, I really needed to act clueless so they don’t suspect I clocked it , I was on AirPod so I started playing music and was singling out and scrolling on twitter, did all this for them to think I’m distracted and we were closer to the bus stop and after that bus stop is also a dry road
I knew I’d drop at the next bus stop but I didn’t announce it and all along this driver refused to pick any other person , another red flag
We got to the junction and there was traffic as usual I told him to drop me, my plan was if they refused I will drag the starring with him while screaming to get people’s attention, he hissed and said “I thought you’re going to….”
I told him no while coming down , asked how much and he drove off with speed without collecting money , i literally wanted to delay when bringing out money until the traffic light turned red so I can get people’s attention and they catch them but he knew I clocked them already hence why he drove off and beat the traffic
@Chimaforkeeps The glass of the bus was scratched, and you can't see anything in the bus from outside. Also, these people work hand in hand with agberos cos the drivee gave one of them 1k (It was 100/200 back then)! I believe shared a video about my experience. Let me find the link.
@officialABAT Imagine what you're sharing when there's gross insecurity, hungry and starving citizens, erratic power supply, and so on. Person wey never chop, how dem wan take build house.
Just resign or die or do whatever it is that people your age do.
@MadProfitGuy I understand you completely. I was referring to how she wanted to escape being ridiculed when she's a thief. More like: Let me leave quietly so nobody knows I commited a crime.
"If I dont give you stable electricity in 4 years, vote me out"
Children of perdition turned deaf ear to that.
Tinubu will be voted out and heaven will not fall.
@iam_immalove If it were that easy, everyone in Lagos would be rich. Married men in Lagos are stingy and controlling AF.
But then, you'll say anything for the Elon dollars.
