Appalling report by @abcnews. A sympathetic backstory of the alleged murderer's life in Australia.
Murder victim 17yo Tunchanok Donhomla doesn't even get mentioned until para 17. No backstory report on her life. 😠

All this talk of Neil the seal made me dig out this pic of my dad managing the local elephant seals on Macquarie Island many years ago (keeping them away from the telecommunication infrastructure). Big buggers.
The probability of a person being bitten by a venomous snake is 1 in 70,000.
The probability of a woman being assaulted by a man is 1 in 3.
nnd for some reason, the fear of snakes is considered entirely justified. Whereas women’s fear of male violence is seen as exaggerated.
@TheTinMenBlog@ThePosieParker "women are the number one abuser of children". Nope.
If you're talking child sexual abuse, between 80% and 95% of abusers are male.
If you're talking teachers' sexual abuse, 70-85% are male.
If you're talking homicides, women are about half (in Australia).

Having a day of reflection.
On June 27 1989 I emigrated to Australia arriving at 6am in Adelaide on June 29.
The past 37 years here have been marvellous. I have been privileged to live in three different states & experienced their uniqueness.
