@MarkCCrowley@FastCompany I think 90% of engagement is driven by the manager.
Promoting and training servant-leaders is such a huge competitive edge and so few organizations pick up on that in pursuit of other metrics and goals.
I checked in with a VP of Sales we placed at one of our #Fintech clients yesterday - he's being very intentional in assessing how the company sells and has already met with several customers to find out why they chose to buy. He's going to deliver and I'm happy for my client.
@MarkCCrowley I'd even give partial credit to managers who promoted their people outside the organization when you don't have any growth at yours. Imagine calling a customer/vendor and selling them on one of your best employees who is ready for growth.
While getting "yacht money" by being an employee of a pre-IPO #startup is the dream, know that statistically speaking, that will not be the outcome. So if a company needs you but cannot pay what you are worth, don't bet your financial future on them becoming a unicorn.
Let's use AI to INCREASE the interactions that humans are best at -
Password resets = AI.
"I'm confused and frustrated and just want to talk to someone." = Human.
Medical record notations = AI
Spending time with patients = Human
@MichaelAArouet There are LOTS of nuances in the jobs reports - and a lot of the companies that are doing big layoffs (like in tech) absolutely gorged on hiring, many during the pandemic. And many tech workers have never been in an industry-wide down market for theirs skills.
Dentist: 2x year. Visit to GP: 1x year. Mechanic: Every 5000 miles.
How often should you check in with your favorite #recruiter when you are NOT looking for a job?
@MarkCCrowley Analogous to when the quants took over professional poker. Many experienced players left - it was no longer about "playing the player" but playing the odds.
How will #AI build teams? Develop leaders? Schmooze investors?
@HRMegOfficial Also, something to consider is the calendar - recruiting tends to slow way down in Q4/the holidays. Planting seeds now can ensure you get a (job) harvest in before winter.

There are dozens of reasons why that company that you were "perfect for" didn't call you to interview. None of which involve you. Don't take it personally. Keep moving forward. #jobhunting
@MarkCCrowley Earlier in my career I was the manager that was spoken to when someone "would like to speak to the manager." I became an abuse sponge so my workers didn't have to.
@tom_peters I get a lot of jobseekers interested in a career change - accountants, lawyers, etc. Never had an MD though - the sunk cost is just too high, I suspect. Most of the MD's I know HATE their jobs but are stuck.
