Your comment and attitude are contrary to the dominant ideology of the United States and the website’s owner. Would the website be better or worse if it prohibited views like yours?

Personally, I think that the traditional “liberal” position is compelling enough to survive such criticism, and that the liberal position benefits from an open forum that includes dissent

I welcome jokes about American/Estadounidense boorishness or belligerence. I like it, I think it’s funny; I like the guy shooting a tornado with a sniper rifle

But I didn’t like when that user suggested we didn’t know that the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France. Of course we know that, it’s a celebrated story in our history and a great symbol of friendship. That joke felt both unfair and personal, it did hurt a little

I don’t believe in collective guilt, or the idea that any historical action requires forgiveness. Japan had a functioning democracy before the military started assassinating politicians and imposing a tyranny. As long as Japanese people today believe in liberal democracy, self-determination, and want to be friends, I see no issue

Granted, I believe the worst actions of Japan in the war are the sexual slavery of Korean women and the use of biological weapons against China - and that downplaying or trivializing these things is a great error
