Compounding Readiness | #3

The defense industry doesn’t need more companies building bigger versions of yesterday’s solutions.

It needs more companies willing to question yesterday’s assumptions.

What if capability isn’t limited by hardware?
What if readiness isn’t constrained by geography?
What if experience can be generated anywhere?
What if software can teach—not just simulate?

What if every rep can be measured, every lesson captured, and every learner continuously improved?

The future won’t belong to the organizations that build the biggest systems. It will belong to those that rethink the system itself.

That’s how readiness compounds

The biggest misconception about XR is that it’s just another simulator.
It isn’t.

XR is a different medium. Treating XR as simply another way to deliver a traditional sim is like treating the smartphone as a smaller desktop computer.

Technically possible.
Strategically backwards.

Innovation doesn’t happen by moving the same software to different hardware.
It happens by rethinking the product for the medium itself. Every medium has its own strengths, constraints, and design principles.

A product purpose-built for XR shouldn’t inherit the assumptions of traditional sim.
It should challenge them.

Compounding Readiness | #2

For decades, we’ve measured readiness by what happens during a sortie.

But the real opportunity is much broader: how do we continue improving between those finite events instead of waiting for the next one

This is why the future isn’t simply bigger or more realistic simulators.

It’s portable, on-demand training that removes friction from repetition. It’s intelligent systems that teach, measure, and deliver objective feedback at a scale and precision traditional methods can’t match.

Military advantage won’t come from simply acquiring more capability.

It will come from building systems that maximize experience generation—where every hour, every sortie, every lesson, and every repetition makes the next one more valuable.

The question isn’t whether we can afford to build this future. It’s whether we can afford not to.

Compounding Readiness | #1

We’re not short on aircraft.
We’re not short on budget.
We’re not even short on time.
We’re short on something far more valuable.

Experience.

And we’re wasting it.

We measure activity:
How many hours did we fly?
How many sorties did we generate?

But activity isn’t the objective.

Experience is.

The goal isn’t motion. It’s mastery.
Aircraft are finite.
Flying hours are finite.
Budgets are finite.

Experience doesn’t have to be.

Every rep should be more valuable than the last—each one delivering high-fidelity, accurate experience that creates real first-person memory.

That experience compounds throughout training, making time in higher-end devices more productive, accelerating proficiency, reducing re-flies, and producing more prepared aircrew and a more experienced force.

That is Compounding Readiness.

The militaries that win won’t be the ones that simply do more. They’ll be the ones that learn faster and smarter—those that ruthlessly align training to purpose and extract maximum experience from every event.

Because over time, experience compounds.
And the force that compounds fastest builds an advantage that others can’t buy, copy, or catch.

This is the framework I’ll be exploring here.
