lucas diehard finds themself stooping to diminish the power of the OT in order to defend lucas' worst tinkering, lol
jabba the hutt is a name that generates a huge amount of intrigue in V, and the effect of the puppet in VI is stunning even today
there's a popular reading of this film online - that the husband is an irredeemable loser, his suicide an act of petulant revenge, the ensuing trial merely an obstacle huller must overcome to finally be rid of his toxicity - that (imo) doesn't square w/ praises of its complexity.
@FanAkko you can defend any change in any rerelease on the basis that it "achieves the intended effect of the scene", thats really just begging the question.
it makes sense to take issue with a seeming character reversion that retroactively implies that anakin "died on mustafar"
@FanAkko if you want to interpret what i said that way you're welcome to, but you're really reaching to treat what i described as a flaw to be rectified. i described "taking a second to recognise someone". youre getting lost in the weeds rather than defending the change on its merits
@FanAkko people watching the film before 2004 realised who it was with no problems, so the argument that confusion justified changing it really doesnt have legs.
+ p funny to go after the og for being confusing when the most common way to watch (release) makes the new one more confusing
