We mourn the passing of Hall of Famer Bobby Cox, the fourth-winningest manager in MLB history.
Cox led the Atlanta Braves to unprecedented success, winning 14 straight division titles from 1991-2005, along with 5 NL pennants and the 1995 World Series championship.
The four-time Manager of the Year won 2,401 games overall, behind only Connie Mack, Tony La Russa, and John McGraw. Of the 13 managers with at least 2,000 career wins, only one (Joe McCarthy) got there in fewer games than Cox.
Cox managed the Braves for 25 seasons in all, leading them to six 100-win seasons and eight 90-win seasons. He also managed the Blue Jays for four years, including the franchise’s first winning record in 1983 and first division title in 1985.
As General Manager of the Braves from 1986-90, Cox laid the foundation for the teams he would manage to success over the next two decades by trading for one future Hall of Famer in John Smoltz, drafting another in Chipper Jones, and helping develop homegrown legend Tom Glavine.
Owner of a .556 winning percentage in 29 total seasons as manager, Cox was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2014.
He was 84 years old.
@Ekaeoq Open office is a cancer. I heard someone talking about the cruise they were on for an hour one morning. Forget having any type of meaningful meeting- always ducking into a private corner or room.
@AleksYankov@Grummz UO was my fav. I logged in and just stepped into a world of many routes. No questing. WoW questing was nice to explore the story, but in the end its just getting ready for raid. I also never had to be told what to do, so my opinion is certainly not the experience of others.
@Grummz While fun, we had direction designed by us in EQ and UO. Questing wasn't needed if you knew what you wanted to do (chat with the bros and kill stuff).
The questing is fun, but it ultimately ends with "are you raid ready?"
@cmuratori@trashh_dev while a lot of it's crap, i know we're doing massive trainings so they're probably posting just to add it. I'm not because I think they're silly certs, but we are certainly going through mandatory training.
@Grummz People had fun and streamers made money streaming it. I had a great time playing it. Maybe stop making shitty games and people will respect the titles more. Or, if you're going to make it shitty, don't spend 10 years in development. Just use AI and fail in six months.
@mindsetmachine Most I can get behind, but steak =/= chicken. That's an easy fix and I'm not paying 100 bucks for a chicken breast. These fucking finance bros are so god damn dumb.
@bourbonenergy Plays Zorro, a literal hero for the people. Hero in the 13th Warrior and numerous others. Spy Kids? lol. I think whoever wrote that should consider letting AI write the rest of their career. I cannot wait for it to take over from these sycophants.
@Zaytris It's an overcorrection. There's middle ground to be held, but recently they take the fan boy/girl approach instead of seasoned developer of their own content. They hired more fans than actual professionals intent on developing the narrative. This hasn't been a bad release though
