On the second day of the #Soils4Med launch meeting, we visited a Vertisol in northwest Sardinia. This soil is well structured and rich in organic content (around 3%), which makes it suitable for crops such as olives and cereals, or for pasture under conservative soil practices and no-tillage. We are also learning about soils and coastal dynamics. In the background, the azure Mediterranean Sea provides a stunning vista for our research.

Between 26 and 28 September, #SaveSoil is participating in the first annual meeting of the Soils4Med project as part of the advisory and outreach committee. Soils4Med is a PRIMA @PrimaProgram (Partnership for research and innovation in the Mediterranean area) funded project coordinated by @unissTweet aiming at harmonizing and making available soil data for soil health monitoring and decision-making in the Mediterranean region. More than 17 institutions from the Mediterranean and beyond have come together in Alghero, Italy for the kick-off meeting of this project.
