Stargate remains a very masculine SciFi franchise. Especially after the first couple of seasons you didn't see much pussyfooting around with the SG-1 or Atlantis team.
When in trouble, shoot the bad guys with a gun.
If that doesn't work, shoot the bad guys with a bigger gun.
Or blow them up with C4.
Or use alien technology to do them in.
The lessons they learned to save the day in one episode are then remembered and used to save the day in the next. A novel concept!
Small wonder why the suits at Amazon cancelled Martin Gero and the gang.
We need to find a way to #SaveStargate ✨
Enough is enough. After seeing the alleged reasons ranging from it’s too focused on dedicated fans lol & they want a showrunner who isn’t part of the old guard for a “fresh take …. Like bruh.
I’m not happy about this. Stargate fans are a broad fanbase and cast a wide net. This fandom has kept that series alive on life support for YEARS.
The frank disrespect to those people... it’s unforgivable unless Amazon makes a statement on this with clear reasons as to why this happened. If not it just shows their opening stream meant nothing really. It was never about fans and they want to carry on the path many other IPs have trod on for the last few years. Have we not learnt anything?
I’ll keep making art, animations and videos, but unless we see some resolution to this. I like many others have clocked out from thinking anything is coming ever again.
It’s been 15 years. It was just cruel to lead us down a garden path like that.
#stargate
Sadly, it's true. Amazon has elected not to move forward with the new Stargate series.
There's not much I can add beyond confirming what's happened. But I will say this...
Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. And based on that creative vision, the new Stargate series was greenlit in November of 2025.
As of today, officially, that original vision is no more. We'll never get the opportunity to introduce you to that world and those characters - or reintroduce you to, and check in with, some familiar faces from the past.
My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming a new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.
I’m gonna simply say this: if you are at all interested in a Stargate show with ANY of the original creators/performers involved, now is the time to say something. Otherwise it really will be the end of that chapter forever. Let them know you are THERE
It should be more blatant than ever that big franchises are now solely used to appeal to the lowest common denominator, to the point where the original creators/writers of what made IPs successful in the first place are being shut out in favor of appealing to “modern audiences.”
I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.
