@ParamSiddh Except no serious SENG(software engineer) has a career built on SO. They are typically building, run into a problem then hop on Stack Overflow, looking for the apt or viable answer to their problem. Some are good enough to even challenge or spot flows in the answers.
@krunalbuilds Redis pub/sub is an at-most-once delivery system. We need an at-least-once delivery system, e.g., Kafka, NATS. Consumers can process non-ack'ed messages. For deduplication on both ends (producer and consumer) using NATS or Kafka primitives, and a DB check typically solves that.
@SamVale29 Analogous to do you need Math for building AI systems? Maybe not. Anyone could use numpy even if they don't know math but that's roughly for a start, the math knowledge is definitely needed down the line. An engineer who can't code without AI is an empty barrel.
@samongaro_ Why spend hours reviewing, fixing, and stopping hallucinations when you can drive and express the whole thing yourself? LLMs present incorrect or suboptimal code with the same authoritative tone as correct code. AI code Review/rework time > actual manual coding time.
@binhara@FrankhHQ I guess Adobe is losing money, since ChatGPT and the like can edit like a pro, yet they only make more money. Ask Google why they still have 90,000 SENGs. Only vibe-coders and to-do-list developers who never wrote any serious code scream AI replacement.
@vicrenoxvi@Cedric_SNR@XhadB Let me help you out: name one major company that fired people because of the AI hype and didn't rehire them after the backfire. I'm waiting.
@vicrenoxvi@Cedric_SNR@XhadB What's real and happening? Hey, I'm not a luddite. Google put up a 75% AI code generation "hype marketing" claim. Research says otherwise. Go to any Fortune 500 company careers page for a SENG role, tell me what you find.
@DTN025@milan_milanovic Haha. Proving your point? You are literally quoting my quote right now. Isn't this about AI? Hey, go back to your original claim of AI solving coding, why quote me on what validates my point just for the record AIs hallucinates a lot and people like me correct them.
@DTN025@milan_milanovic I really don't like taking a jab at other people. I see your X description "Software engineer — API" shows you might be a newbie. That said, let me help you out, paste "coding is the easiest" into an LLM like Claude and paste the screenshot here. That's easy right?
@DTN025@milan_milanovic Except you think coding is all about typing syntax, the "easiest" claim holds. As Mr Martin Fowler put it: "Any fool can write code that a computer can understand. Good programmers write code that humans can understand". Coding is hard, ask any serious dev.
@DTN025@milan_milanovic Maybe you are a guru, but most serious engineers wouldn't agree with the notion "easiest". Coding is an important part of the whole schmear and it's a very serious part with paradigms, principles, bad and best practices. So coding being "easiest" is your own unique experience.
@DTN025@milan_milanovic Coding is solved in what sense? Masking words is easier these days until you are asked to explain. How do you solve problems and build great software while you delegate the "coding" to AI? AI can do all the coding while you solve problems? That's not very eurythmic with reality.
@collins16330700@NdemoKelvin I will take this as banter; if not. You've got the tokens, so ask Claude to help you build a URL shortener to serve 100k req/s; the stack: Go, Postgres, Sqlc, TimescaleDB/Clickhouse, Redis and NATS for the basics. Then ask Claude to build it as microservices. I'm waiting.
@engrfaisaltariq@ayesha_fatiima Unfortunately, that's not how it works at major teams; coding agents sure help, but serious engineers still code instructions. You probably use Grok. X team's main role isn't reviewing whether AI wrote the NumPy code correctly; roles come with job descriptions, you know.
@Cedric_SNR@XhadB Yeah, SENGing isn't all about writing code. Every dev should know that; coding is one major part amongst several other majors. My comment didn't mention people who have never written code; I said that those who haven't written any serious code blabber about AI replacement.
@ris93pl@Cedric_SNR Hahahaha. Ironic. Anthropic and the like use engineering minds, and yet there is this media propaganda or canard about AI obsoleting SENGs (software engineers).
