Today, 67 years ago, approximately 20 000 brave South African women of all races marched in solidarity to the Union Buildings in opposition to the oppressive and racist pass laws of the time. The manner in which they organised themselves that day was momentous.
Today we commemorate & remember the women of 1956 when 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest legislation aimed at tightening apartheid government's control over movement of black women in urban areas, requiring them to carry passes #WomensDay2023
