Why is this whole story with Omarchy so polarizing?

You got yet another Linux distribution. Try it out if you wanna. Maybe you like it and you stick with it.

Or just stick to what you like already.

If you're one of the fans of DHH, and you're gonna eat everything he spoon-feeds you, then go try Omarchy and shill for it. If you think DHH is the worst person out there, don't use Omarchy. Simple as that.

My gosh man, it's just a Linux distribution.

This might be some of the worst Codex news I’ve heard in a while.

OpenAI is bringing the 5-hour limit back for Plus users, while Pro users keep the unrestricted setup.

And part of the explanation was this:

“users on the Plus plan are relatively casual and new users, but then also just accidentally eat through their whole weeks usage and then are confused, making it not a great experience”

So let me get this straight:

Some Plus users burn through their entire weekly quota in a few hours, get confused, complain about it…

and the solution is to put a 5-hour cap on every Plus user?

I’m sorry, but I really don’t buy that as the main reason.

This feels much more like a compute problem, or simply OpenAI deciding that Plus users are consuming more compute than they want them to.

I’ve always been able to stretch my weekly quota across 5–6 days.

Now I’m genuinely worried I won’t even be able to USE the full quota I’m given, because longer coding sessions will constantly get interrupted by a 5-hour window.

And that’s what makes this change so frustrating.

If I have a weekly quota, let me decide how I use it.

Don’t give me the compute and then tell me when I’m allowed to spend it.

Essa idéia de que "ser pras pessoas" significa "pobreza" é a coisa mais imbecil e sem lógica de todos os tempos.

Bilionários, teoricamente, ficaram bilionários porque as pessoas "votaram" neles com seu próprio dinheiro (com exceção daquelas que ficaram bilionários porque os governos as tornaram assim com dinheiro extorquido do povo, como faz todo governo).

The difference is:

DHH isn’t out to make Linux political. He’s out to make it apolitical. And that’s really pissing off the entrenched Linux clowns.

Also he and the people working with him are generally a) way better programmers, b) better people and c) adjusted individuals with families, friends and a life full of joy.

Switched from Windows 11 to Omarchy 4.

My friends wanted me to stay on Windows for games that don’t run on Linux, but honestly, it’s worth it.

Way more efficient. I went from struggling with 4 OpenCode terminals to comfortably running 8.
