“Great athletes find the right sport for their skills and talents and then develop routines that push the boundaries of those skills and talents.
Greatness cannot exist and persist in an environment of comfort. A best practice in trading is cultivating routines that always push our development.”
Thank you Dr. S.
Our strengths cannot exist in an environment of comfort; what we don't exercise inevitably atrophies. Here are two realities of trading success: https://t.co/ROD9AScvj5
Really good execution in #NQ_F today. One and done and I've taken the whole move. This one is a good writeup material. Everything was there. One good trade.
@myxfdc True, but it's not just mechanics, it changes the mindset too. I don't really have the headspace to think that way, so I rarely do it. Only on real conviction or a really strong setup.
I want to trade the session make my money and be flat before the close.
There are advantages to that. I prefer this game.
If I carry anything overnight, it’s options sized for zero.
I’ve had longer-term conviction plays in the past ($TSLA $PS ) and may have them again (nil now). But I’m not playing position/swing game. I trade intraday.
High turnover. Income trading. Trying to make the most of a high win rate, smaller gains adding up. Optimizing for a smooth equity curve.
This was posted on Substack today. You are down -25%? Nah. I’m just playing a different game.
@TotoFutures@moritzfitness96 I use both for futures. RTH for stocks. You can also se e if 0.25 works for you. I’ve tried it. It is a level, price reacts there but I am not using it.
Executions. Remember how price kept pressing lower around the lows yesterday? Factor in today’s gap down and an up move on around +3K delta. The signs were there. I’m just connecting the dots.
@moritzfitness96 The setup can be exactly the same. What changes is how clearly I can read the order flow. When there’s real participation and people are actively trying to get something done, the book behaves differently. Their activity is easier to read, and I can identify areas to put risk.
Offsetting my $TSLA loss with NQ (some of it). Very happy with this one. Literally couldn’t have traded NQ better.
I’ll spend the rest of the day on my weekly review. Plenty to add to the list of things to work on.
One is how I weigh RVOL against setup quality. TSLA had 3.6 RVOL versus a pretty meh 1.6 in NQ, with Qs similar. But the setup in the indices was much better than in the HBs.
Which raises a question: is an average setup in an “in-play” name really better than a killer setup in something "less" in play, with several layers of context lining up?
Simplified NQ map for today. Focusing on what is meaningful and inPlay. Only one spot I'm interested in. Will consider BO above 30200 once we are there.
